When will you figure out the secret to beating terran? When terran isn't a joke. TvZ is the most balanced (non-mirror) match-up. The statistics would disagree with you. In the GSL, Zerg hasn't had a winning record against terran in a single month since November. NOVEMBER. But the only other two relevant match-ups are PvZ and TvP, and we all know the state of those match-ups nowadays. As I said, I think part of the problem is that there are just not that many Zergs who are good at ZvT. You have ZvP monsters (NesTea, Losira, CoCa) and ZvZ monsters (NesTea, Losira, viOlet, Zenio), but our only really solid ZvT players (DRG, Leenock) had been stuck in Code B for the longest time ever. And on top of that, those ZvT players are both weak in a match-up (primarily ZvP) that has kept them out of the GSL for a depressingly long time. It seems to be a trend or something; even back when FruitDealer was the best ZvTer out there, he was absolutely horrible in ZvP for some reason. I do think that NesTea psyched himself out against MVP. He was horribly indecisive with his units and wouldn't commit in quite a few engagements. I really do wonder how much MVP wins in practice to make NesTea so nervous.
To be honest I think the indecisiveness with units in the match against MVP was not the play we use to see from NesTea at all.
I don't think this has so much to do with the matchup - rather psyche and confidence as you say. If you compare the play against MVP with the absolutely fantastic play against Losira in the GSL July you understand that NesTea didn't perform his best yesterday.
NesTea has himself said in chats and interviews that he struggles against Terran and I have a feeling that it is in his mind and because of that he was not confident enough.
His psyche was not the best, especially when he knew he was going to play the best Terran in the world as well as his teammate that he lose to in practice. He got nervous and that's the reason why we saw a more mortal NesTea with some sloppy unit control and decision making.
NesTea performs the best when he is in "God mode" - when he is confident and know in his mind how to crush the opponent. MC has his "Boss mode" and similar to that you have NesTeas "God mode" that we all love.
There's a new patch coming up and there is 2-3 weeks of constant practice for NesTea where he can gain his confidence back vs Terran - let us all hope that in GSL October Terrans will have to watch out for the new NesTea in "God mode"!

It was pretty painful to watch. Think it is the worst I have seen NesTea play. I knew that he would not bring his A-game to this tournament, so this goes beyond this.
I do agree that much of it is mentally based. I knew things were going to be bad, when I saw NesTea before the matches started. He looked beaten before it started, and he proceeded to make odd decisions, poor micro/macro, in short being timid and half hearted.
I understand why, as NesTea usually lives on the fact that he is the most intelligent and innovative player. MVP is not far behind him, if at all. Not gonna bring up imbalance issues between races and how much maintenance is needed to perform well, so I will leave it.
NesTea will be back, and stronger.

Nestea said he was never to beat MVP in practice, Flash Jaedong rivalry in SC2? God please! J v F transition into N v M : ]
But yes, i thought Nestea was going to play much better than that he did in the games. But, he will be back.

I must say I was very disappointed and a little bit sad to see NesTea loose to MvP. Would have wanted to see NesTea in finals.
That bunker rush was just... too much. And G1 he would have won should he have had one more base. His Broodlord timing was perfect, but too low economy.

Nestea would have won if it wasn't a fucking Bo3. With the exception of that Bo5 in January against MVP, Nestea could have made a comeback if they played a Bo5. Reminiscing about the sC/MKP matches, Nestea needs more time to adapt to Terran playstyle than other races. Such a shame it was only a Bo3. Edit: Nestea is still better than MVP TLPD wise where he has 90%/80%/~60% and MVP has 70%/70%/60%.

Sign me up! Best player in the world, playing with a race that is not Terran. That's historical stuff, rare even in that older version of starcraft people still talk about as some kind of ideal.
I'll say the b-word, why not? Sc2's bonjwa, and the guy MLG most needs to bring to America in order to keep their tournament legit. The GSL loss to MVP, in a mere bo3, isn't really going to hurt his reputation at all. In the future, his challenge will have to do with staying motivated enough to keep his mechanics in perfect Malmsteen shape to stay one step ahead. Every nuance he discovers will be passed down to every autistic 400 amp'r in the world, so some of his edge is bound to erode. Time will tell if he's *just* a visionary champion like Nal_rA or some kind of imba iloveoov monster who ruins the game for everybody else.

There's a big link now to the voting. NesTea is only in the lead with 14% - that's not enough - he should have at least 25%!
+ God has been invited to MLG!

There are lots of myths going on saying that Nestea requires to outthink and devise a strategy for each opponent in order to win and that's why he has struggled in online tournaments as well as ladder. Does anyone have a replay of him? You can't tell whether his macro is as good as losira or not through vods. Personally, I don't think there is any way you can win sc2 on 10000 IQ alone, but I would still like to see a rep.

The GSL works in a very specific format that allows you to prepare for your opponent ahead of time, this sometimes makes the games weird/bad because everybody is trying to mindgame each other. Nestea is a MASTER of mindgames.
So basically, there seems to be some grounds to the claim that Nestea "has" to outsmart his opponent to be and play as good as he does in GSL (this would also explain the loss to GoOdy in TSL, though some might call that lag w/e) HOWEVER we have no evidence of this until we see him at an MLG or at Blizzcon.
Personally I think Nestea is an amazing player mechanically as well, and his intellect only serves him further. Looking forward to MVP vs Nestea finals at Blizzcon :D

He dicks around on ladder.
He hates online tournaments because of the lag. I distinctly remember in the StarsWar tournament a confession that he was trying out a new strat that wasn't polished.
His macro is better than Losira's.
