Demuslim: - Permanent residency in the US, - has a job in the US, - pays taxes in the US, for more than a year now I think?
Korean: - Internet connection from Korea .... to the US.

Fenix and Capoch won WCS tournaments last year in Peru and Argentina respectively. That's why they're invited and Demuslim is not. (I completely agree it's a poor decision. I'm just pointing out that there is a defense for it.)

Well i am a big fan of Demuslim, and i am really sad he didn't make it, even tho his performance gave him way more respect then the poor performance we'll see from all those who actually did auto qualified on WCS, but anyway... i want to bring up a strong point, i feel like his biggest problem is his confident and the "poor" challenges he meet on the na ladder, maybe i don't see the full scene, but when Ben meets some top Korean on his streams (like polt and byun) suddenly, he doesn't seem to be the number 1 gm player he is (which is great) - and as hes saying on the stream "Great, now i have good practice"... i am asking myself...? why does it have to be like that? it feels like Ben prefers to be the best out of the worst, then the "worst" out of the best... if the situation is really like that, and his top practices coming only when some good Korean decides to login on the NA ladder. then no wonder Ben will always stay at the same state he is now.
for example, Ben met on the few days he streamed before the WCS qualifiers, players like (Byun and Polt) which gave him great practice - and indeed we saw, how Ben defeated a top Korean Terran named aLive - but fell to other races top Koreans, Oz and Revival... is it because no top Z or P decided to login into the NA gm system? i wonder....

Demuslim is as far as I'm concerned better against Zerg than against the two other races.
And I don't really agree with the rest of your post. He openly admits that Byun and Polt in particular are (much) better than him, which is true, but what's interesting is that he always learns and improves (for example, he can lose three times in a row, but then he watches the replay and suddenly he's able to win). He wouldn't have been able to do that if he struggled with what you insinuated.
Demuslim is a great talent, and he is also one of the foreigners that has the most Korean-esque playstyle. What I would like to see is that he improves his scouting (could be as simple as holding his watch tower) and that he improves his cheeses. Because, let's face it, Koreans aren't only Gods at macroing, they are the Gods of cheesing as well.

Well first of all, just to say, unlike you, i didnt and will never judge any kind of an aspect of the gameplay of a pro, claiming lack of scouting as might as it is actually might be true - who the hell are we to judge it? the big boy knows what he's doing...
Just saying, for me it feels quite weird, that a pro player at the level of Ben, need to relay on koreans to login into NA game ladder, so he'll be able to have good (koreans) practices. so for instance, if a player like Ben meets for the first time in a long period a top korean (might it be at any race), while its actually on an official game in some kind of a tournament - then i must say (w/o any kind of need to understand aspects of the game) that something is wrong in the way he prepares or practices.

Demu was planning to go train in Korea before this shakeup, which seems to have further reduced the incentive to go.
Considering how good he is with his current location, I'd love to see him over in the EGTL house.

Well, Demuslim lives in NA so that's how it's going to be for now. It isn't like he is immortal on the ladder either, if he was Polt and had 110-10 in stats, then you could say that he needs better practice, but for now I think that the NA-ladder is more than decent enough practice for him. Hell, he was only one game away from qualifying, considering how little he has done since his arm broke I think that's quite an achievement.

Very poor. WCS Peru happened when CatZ was in the US, so Fenix basically won by default. Same with WCS Argentina; Capoch is the only legit player in that country. At WCS South America, Fenix was second to cKiller and Capoch was 5/6th. Again, though, the South American competition was quite weak. I'd have expected Catz to take second or third had he attended. It only matters as the 2013 WCS is theoretically an extension of the 2012 WCS.

Dudes, you really need to stop fanboying blindly because i have had enough of this, and you simply look retarded. Most of the stream chats are flooded with fangirls "omg did demu qualify, omg why not he is the best player alive, omg i'm gonna kill myself" and not even joking. Sure there is nothing wrong with cheering for your idol, but know different between being a fan and ignorant blind fangirl. Just know the limit.
Sure he is GM NA rank 1, so what? All it means he is doing well while laddering. This guy is extremely overrated, EXTREMELY. Playing since WoL beta, 23 years old now, lacking any achievements besides being 2nd/3rd in low tier tournaments. It's called being a pub star.
He is not talented, he is not skilled (in terms of pro gaming).
This is why he didn't get invited into WCS in the first place. Very little to none success in such a long career run is bad. I don't see any reason he should get an insta spot in prestigious tour. He is too old now to suddenly start winning against beast at the pro scene.
His global winnings from prizepools is around'ish 20k$. Compare that to 22 years old EG.HuK with winnings of 70k$. Or Scarlett 18 years old 40k$ won, and she isn't really SC2 prodigy or someone whos sturming pro scene, a solid player with great potential. And demuslim is a person who lacks potential, therefore can't do anything in serious matches.
Seriously, why would you even assume that he deserves WCS spot? You get invited based on your results, you need to be determined, having that spark that would allow you to compete with the best players in the world. And scoring rank 1 on NA ladder is not even close to that.
http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/DeMusliM Check the results in tournaments. That's really really bad considering amount of time he's been around.
Yes, annyoing fangirls and fanboys made me post this.

Well shucks... the mighty BlazingFear hath spoken!
I had no idea how overrated he was before today but you've well and truly opened by eyes, kudos to you sir... I mean, before today I literally had no idea 23 years of age was old?! but once again, BlazingFear to the rescue, emphasising emphatically how that is both relevant and critical... And he is correct when pointing out how prestigious WCS NA really is, I mean, its not like anyone can play in this tourney? Hell, did Demu really think he deserved to be mentioned in the same breath as HelloKitty?? And finally, to really drill the point home we have his complete lack of potential! Iv never noticed before how he has barely shown any improvement in his game, I mean, after this long of a career he's still BARELY competing with koreans?!
What a joke of a player... once again, thank you mighty, all knowing BlazingFear, you've truly done us all a great service. I expect to hear from you again, opening our eyes as to why Life is simply a flash in the pan.

Demu fans are kewl
Pages and pages about the things Idra said about Demuslim but nobody has talked about it here yet.

so sad he could not atempt in wcs eu nor na
one thing disturbs me when i watch his steam : he often uses "we" instead of "I" to talk about what he's doing :D i'm not good in english and i want to learn, so could yo say that's normal to talk like that or only demuslim talks that way ?
