I know he's the marine king, but I'm so sad when he goes only marines in games cause he rarely does that now and the other time I remember him doing it was against Nada last time on tal which cost him that game too cause it was marines against tanks. Oh well, mkp will always be my fav pro gamer! Better luck next time mkp and please get top 4 in NASL and come to mlg anaheim! | ||

Each time he plays standard (not implying a single build, just no silly stuff like 15 minutes pure marines on 2 bases) he just roflstomp. But sometimes (and each time he was sent in up and downs) he plays just silly builds that makes absolutely no sense (I'm sure I could have won that game with my offrace zerg in losira's seat, no 2 rax, no pressure...) he loses. It's like he loses on purpose to have holidays or for whatever reason like that. I'm a fan(boy even) and usually I stay a fan even when my players lose, but now I'm too angry. When I saw the korean weekly tournament 2 nights ago, I stayed up to see him play in the middle of the night only to see him mass marine against colossus (he went basically the same build he did today vs losira, but it was vs protoss ><) Wtf is wrong with you mkp | ||

Because when that build works, it looks absolutely miraculous in terms of awe inspiring individual unit micro. I feel like he didn't take the group 100% seriously and believed that he had a good shot at winning against Losira despite using that impossible build, and even if he didn't he could beat any combination of Alicia/Coca twice to win the series. Remember, Korean progamers regularly state during interviews that it is one of their primary goals to "show good games." What MKP attempted was possibly a means to that end. Personally, I'm more upset and depressed about his game against Alicia. He was definitely trying his best that game, but it had all the hallmarks of his usual weaknesses - bad scouting (which gave Alicia a huge initial advantage with the void ray / sentry contain and the gold base expansion into +2 armor upgrades), and some poor decisions on when and where to engage against the Protoss army. I feel like there were multiple situations in the game where he could've recovered and taken out either Alicia's gold or his production facilities, but failed to take advantage of the opportunity due to misreads and bad decision making and eventually gave out to Alicia's +2 armor upgraded army. Despite it all, though, I'm still a huge fan of FoxeR because when he is at his best, he is simply awe inspiring to watch. I love his interaction with fans, I love the personality he displays in the booth, and I hope he can learn from his mistakes and come back stronger than ever.  | ||

On a map like this, where you split up into chokes and banelings can basically get free hits off... no. Maybe if he had mixed in Marauders or something. Any other map(like Shakuras vs Kyrix) there's a lot of space for splitting and he would have ripped Losira apart. He just should have used a different strategy. | ||

Yeah it seems marineking is a great player who is very talented at micro and mechanics but he has a few critical weaknesses, and they have been figured out. One is like you said, bad scouting, I rarely ever see marineking send a scouting past the initial scv, he tends to rely on aggression to get information. Which is okay sometimes when the aggression works, but since he does it every single game people prepare for it, counter his likely army composition and because he doesn't scout he doesn't react properly, he just goes anyway and ends up losing all his forces. Which brings me to his second major weakness, predictability. He always fast expands, and hes always extremely aggressive off 2 bases. I have never seen him play a more reactive or harass based style. Once he gets his 2nd base up its almost always constant aggression, and his build is generally set in stone, hes going for this attack no matter what. Which can be a good strategy, except for when your opponent heavily prepares for this. The only time he is defending is generally vs all-in play. Its kind of frustrating to see him losing because he blindly sends waves after waves in against an opponent who has figured him out and countered his army composition. I always thought scouting and one dimensional play were easy things to fix if you had the underlying talent, its kind of frustrating to see that he hasn't really adapted over time. | ||
