Groups for IEM ^

MC will stomp Ret/Nerchio/Sound, and if he can hold the 4gate will beat elfi. Hasuobs is a bit more dodgy, seeing as his style of PvP is very safe, and PvP is so... yeah. Still, MC has very good chances of getting out of that group, and pretty good chances of getting first.

don't know how on earth would you rate hasu more dangerous than elfi to mc. elfi has probably the best pvp out of all the foreigners, he's certainly the most likely to beat mc from that group. but he'll likely beat the others.

elfi's PvP relies entirely around straight up 4gates, because Protoss are becoming more greedy in that matchup.

MC can hold any foreigner 4gate on any map other than TDA.

Hasuobs, on the other hand, stays safe until maxed. Once both players are maxed, it's all about positioning and sometimes luck, rather than unit control and micro.

elfi uses a lot of different builds... standard 4gate, fake 4gate into exp, blink stalkers, etc. he beat the crap out of huk for example and huk's pvp is better than mc's. he's certainly much more dangerous than hasu in pvp.

No it isn´t. It really isn´t, and HuK played bad in that series.

well here's an argument for you

http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/details.php?section=sc2-international&type=players&id=640&part=games&vs=1598&league=any&map=any&from_year=2010&from_month=12&from_day=28&to_year=2012&to_month=2&to_day=25&action=Update

MC is the better player by far but he always loses to huk. as of today, MC is the underdog if he plays vs huk.

and Elfi's pvp is ridiculous, doesn't matter if huk didn't play good in those series. MC already proved that he is mortal vs foreigners in pvp and Elfi's pvp is better than Mana's.

MC is mortal vs pretty much anyone in PvP. People got stuck into the image of MC never losing in the matchup about a year ago, but ever since patches hit 4-gate he's been less than stellar in PvP. He seems caught up in old builds and hasn't had the evolution other protoss have had in the matchup. It's without a doubt his worst matchup right now, but since PvP still has some luck and micro heavy early game influence, he can still win.

If the game progresses into anything further than early game, MC will lose.

Strongly disagree. Did you see his games against Genius? One Twilight build, one fast expansion and one Phoenix build. It isn't because MC is stuck with old strategies that he loses - his builds were far more modern than Genius' (2 4gates, 1 of which transitioned into Colossus, and 1 fast expansion).

It's his worst matchup because it all comes down to build orders and positioning and luck. You can't outmacro your opponent because there is so little macro involved, the only multi-tasking is in non-standard circumstances (Warp Prisms, Phoenix, harassment etc) and micro reaches a skill ceiling pretty quickly. I guarantee that if the matchup stays the same nobody will be completely dominant at it, ever.

But at the same time, you also worked against the protoss race because you helped a zerg winning over a toss in a gsl final. You now have the responsibility of winning another gsl for protoss.
Go and kill that DRG kid and win it all for toss.

I think it would have been a lot better finals if MC had been there rather than Genius. IF DRG had tried to run into his booth MC would have bodyslammed him.

I agree with msjakofsky here. This is a place to discuss MC's chances against different opponents and support him. Not to go overboard and think he's God Flash. Hell, even he loses sometimes.

I happen to disagree with elfi's chances vs MC, but he's putting forwards a strong argument.

thanks ^^ good to see that a dispute here doesn't necessarily end in flaming

You clearly don't understand why MC helped DRG win this championship.
Currently, the president protoss holds the monopoly on GSL protoss wins.
Nobody else has ever come close...don't even talk about Inca.
In helping DRG, MC solidifies his foothold, at least for a few months, that no other protoss has ever been as successful as he was/is.

That is just what part of the community think. It could be DRG was in the final and Mc wanted to help his friend while practice his pvz.
Even Genius won that final, it did not make him more successful than Mc in SC2.

Damn that is undeniably MC's weakest match up now. I hope he stays on point. Does IEM have any VODs? Are they free?

Yeah, there are free vods but they will probably be a nightmare to sort through >_<

They're usually just on the casters Twitch.tv page.

Thanks a lot. Routing for MC to win it for sure!

This is ages ago but does anyone remember MC vs Ryung in the team league? Ryung did a hidden double rax with mass marines. Artosis proclaimed MC dead, due to his one gate expand. MC micro'd his stalkers brilliantly to slow it down though and by the him Ryung it MC's other gates finished and he crushed him.

Random, but one of my favourite MC moments haha.
