Just a thought on MC's confidence, he's mentioned a girlfriend in the past and in his drunkenness, mentioned girls and sex, maybe his personal life just hasn't been easy on him?

I dunno, anything we think of that might be affecting his confidence is just gonna be pure conjecture. It's clear that his usual air of confidence is shot though. Watching his games against monster, you could see that he probably felt insecure about his ability to win so he did a forge expand twice and then nexus first in the third game, hoping that an econ advantage alone would win him the series.
