Long macro games are the only one Zerg can play. They have no good early cheese or attacks early on. Zerg is on the defense until Mutalisks and tier two starts to kick in, and if you ever see IdrA use Mutalisk, he harasses pretty well with them.

You think maybe he choose zerg because it had a different feel to it mechanically and such. I think it just stuck on him because way back in the day he mentioned that he may be switching to protoss for sc2. I don't think he changed races JUST to complain about how imba terran is(and I'm not agreeing that they are imba, I haven't had much time with the game). The game is still going to be tweaked. I mean its not like bw was balanced right out the door...they had to work at it. I find it funny that Idra gets a fanclub after he race switches in sc2 and started dominating tlo.

A common refrain about Idra is how he is 'predictable' (although the IEM showed some instances where he could change things up to unbalance his opponent!).
There are two things though, versus Terran, there's very little deviation Zerg can manage AND stay in the game. They are completely reactive to whatever Terran throw at them. So it's hard to come up with some cunning build order that's an instawin if not scouted.
The second thing, is while Idra plays quite standard a lot of the time, he's very consistent. How many tournaments does Idra completely fail to leave some sort of mark? Very few. His play is reliable and doesn't expose him to too many peaks and troughs. Morrow ended up winning the IEM, but where will he be in the next big tournament? His play was solid but predicated on a couple strong builds that may/may not work depending on what his opponent does. It's like White-ra who dominated the HDH, was nowhere in IEM.
With Idra's style of play, he may not win everything in sight, and he may relieve some opponents who thing they know what they are going to be dealing with. But at the same time his approach exposes few weaknesses. Overtime I guess that will make him more successful. As he is a professional gamer, it's better to place in a lot of tournaments than to win 1 and no-hope in a lot of others.

Wow, he totally predicted this kind of play from Morrow, but he still couldn't do anything about it.

Actually IdrA started as zerg in BW then switched to Terran. In Sc2 you can say he returned to his roots.

i think you forgot about the unit "banelings"

Yeah, but Baneling Busts are so easy to stop. You can scout it easily and you just need to double up, or use bigger buildings to protect yourself.

Omg did noone post the epic awkward birthday moment video?

I'm just thinking, how can this be the 'official' idra fanclub thread until we see the man himself, Idra, officially sanction it?
