he tried out the ultra/bane style which was probably bad for the map (entombed) but still do somewhat decent with it (almost broke IncAs 4th) but he very clearly displayed hes extremely frustrated with ZvP late game

Watching Idra play so well, and yet still lose makes me so sad. Truly the dark ages for fans of Idra.
It's no longer a slump, and I'd argue it was never a slump. He plays good and that's undeniable. He grinds a shit ton of games, and we all know that. But grinding games doesn't mean anything if he's playing it wrong. His early and mid-game is pretty good (probably because he grinds it out so much), but I feel he just gets lazy during the late game and just goes in for the kill expecting things to go his way.
We constantly hear him say "Turtle Zerg" is boring and takes too long. One might argue that letting Protoss build up a deathball is counter intuitive (and it probably is), but as far as I know, Idra very seldom experiments with this. Basically it feels like he gets to the late game, and thinks "I can probably attack and kill this guy. He's pretty bad for letting me get to late game". Personally I think that's a good way to motivate one's self, but LOSING after thinking that way is like getting kicked in the balls.
I'm still hoping for his return to glory. It's just really sad to see him lose time and time again because of his poor late game.

Precisely. He hates it, and it doesn't look like he's done much about it after all this time despite all the practice that he puts into it.

To be honest, it's even boring to watch. I can't imagine playing it is any better when you have to practice it hundreds of times.

90% of the opinion I've seen seems to be that it's a boring, poorly designed matchup. Whether it's a zerg or protoss speaking, very few seem to enjoy playing it.

Idra is an amazing player. His mechanic are top notch.
He's just not playing the game right T_T. You can't keep throwing that many units.
Idra may not be my favorite player, but I know he works hard and practices alot, and it's sad to see him not win.
EDIT: And oh yeah, 100% agree on Idras comment Ingame. To bad DB doesn't.

the problems with PvZ late game are fundamental problems in WoL they cant be fixed by a simple balance change so hoTS is the soonest the metagame is likely to change

Idra played very very well in the NASL qualifiers, but one or two mistakes blew it for him. There are, however, 3 more, and I would not in the least be surprised to see him in NASL4.
|
What the hell...... I really want to see IdrA win NASL 4 maybe that would break this idea that he's a bad player. Although this would never happen, I want IdrA to be the first foreign GSL Code S champion (maybe even multiple time Code S champion ^_^) Impossible but hey I can dream!

But stephano isn't playing in GSL just staying for 2 weeks.
Hope idra can qualify for NASL season 4.
