Probably not. Scrubs like him who wins WCG Brood War only a couple of times are not skilled enough.

Yea, but that was ages ago and Day9 has plenty of stuff to do right now. What about Julyzerg for instance? - He is _really_ bad and was oh so good back in bw.

It's Day[9]... can you really doubt that he would get into masters?
He won the WCG for an RTS. He is was one of the best in the world at AN RTS that means he could easily get to masters, basic RTS skills transfer from one game to another, and he was one of the best at BW the game with the best skill set transition to SC2... he would get into masters no doubt.

Don't be ridiculous. Day[9] never won WCG. He did win WCG USA, but there is a huge difference between that winning the actual grand finals.
And no, he was never one of the best BW players. One of the best foreigners yes, but there were still hundreds of better players in Korea.
However, Day9 is very talented and smart, so I have no doubt that he is in masters league but how good he truly is at sc2 is a mystery as his account is unknown and he hasn't participated in any tournaments for quite a long time.

Day9 was most likely just kidding right there, but if he makes the effort to raise his voice for that then it's most likely at least a bit important for him to point out that it's not that way. IdrA and Artosis are taking a big risk in releasing such a show, because as they even mentioned in the video - pros get flamed for talking about imbalance quite a bit, so I think Day9 shouldnt make fun of it. I want the show to go on and hope they will talk about scouting for all the races and how it needs to be enhanced.

Please stop. Day9 doesn't have time to practice 12 hours a day right now. So no, he probably couldn't win a GSL. That doesn't stop him from having more insight into the game than practically anyone else on the scene. One doesn't have to be an amazing football player to be a great football commentator. In fact, most former athletes are awful at actually explaining their game.

I love both idrA and Artosis, and I like their show, but Day9 is a hero in the community for more reasons than just his unique humor.

Why comparing SC2 to a TEAM game like football, where strategy isn't even the most important thing ? If you want to compare SC2 to anything else, please choose something like chess or even SC1:BW.

Oh and Day[9] is a "hero" to the community because he helps newbies get better.

I think the show in itself is pretty nice and even though it's impossible to be completely unbiased, I would like IdrA to try and present things from a neutral PoV.

I think that's the problem right there.

I believe IdrA was being neutral during the show, but the way you talk makes it look like you think he was being biased. So I guess it's just a matter of interpretation of what's being said.

After following the SC2 scene since Beta and reading/hearing/watching all the content out there I have this to say about Idra.

With great power comes great responsibility. Idra is a great player, of this there is no doubt. Hitler was a great orator, yet most would say a very bad person. You have the opportunity of a lifetime to set a shining example for present and future E-sports players, and you piss it away with your childish comments and rude behavior. You might say this amuses you and you don't care but if you care about your "career" then you really should. Sponsors like friendly, approachable people.

Your contributions are far outweighed by your bad examples of what a professional is. What seals the deal for me is your comments on the Gosucoaching VOD I watched last night. Geoff (InControl) and you were getting ready to go live it sounded like. And you talked about how you hated the game and everyone you know thought the same. Then why the fuck are you playing if you hate it so much? Did you hear when he told you might say something you regret?

You are a spoiled brat. I would PM you this also but you're banned. Maybe one of your fanboi's can pass this along? I've tried over and over to like you and look past your childish behavior but at some point I just don't like how you conduct yourself.

But then, this is just the opinion of someone looking to sponsor future SC2 events, and you leave a bad taste in my mouth. If you have nothing good to say please don't say it. A lot of kids look up to you and you set a horrible example.

God, I really want to answer that with a meme, but I know I would get banned for it .

Just saying that you're one of the many who think his behavior is bad for the e-sport/carrier, when nobody cares. Everybody enjoyed IdrA vs Clide match because there was a grudge between them. Everybody love to watch IdrA rage over and over.

Would you root for or against IdrA, every IdrA's match is entertaining.

He "hates" its and complains about it, because he actually cares about the game. If you compare it to Thomas Bernhard, he always critisized Austria but not because disliked it, but he didn't like what Austria had become. IdrA (and so do many people (esp Zergs)) hate Blizzard for not meeting their expactations and failing to balance this game. It's like digging a grave; Protoss and Terrans get a shovel to do so while Zerg gets a spoon - sure you can keep up with the others but you need to be a few times better to do so and in the end you will just get the same.

So you call IdrA a spoiled brat. You compare him to Hitler, poke fun at his fans. You downplay his contributions because of him truthfully speaking his mind? And you think he's the one being childish? What have you contributed to the e-sports scene compared to him? He guest casts, makes instructional videos, does interviews, creates new content like Imbalanced (regardless if you agree with it or not) and then the small thing of being one of the top foreigners in the world.

I'm sure he's losing sleep at night that an unknown, potential "future sponsor" for sc2 is upset with him being himself. If you want to sponsor something in SC, go do it. IdrA shouldn't have any bearing on your decision, unless you're a petty individual. In the meantime, companies like SteelSeries, HyperX and Kingston will continue to support him and his team, featuring him prominently. I have no idea how he will survive without the sponsorship of "KeepYaCoolBro Inc."

Probably this one. The OP is.. paraphrasing, but pretty standard fare for our IdrA.

Edit: Oh no he's actually not haha. Still. If you listen to all of it, it's actually a nice cast. But that's not what people like to focus on of course.

I just wanted to butt in and let you know that football does indeed require an insane amount of strategy. Just because you don't understand the game doesn't mean you can make blanket statements. If anything, football is more like SC than chess because football requires strategy + performance just like SC. There is no physical ability or APM-like mechanic in chess.

And about Day9 vs. IdrA's opinions: IdrA's opinions are far more accurate than Day9's when talking about the absolute top level of play. Day9 isn't an active participant in high-level tournaments. He's a teacher for mid-level players.

It's like trusting the opinion of your economics professor over an actual, active economist.

With all due respect to day9 I think he shouldn't try to make fun of Artosis and IdrA, because they are way superior players (is day9 even in the masters league?) and stuff that is imbalanced for them need not be imbalanced for day9 and his viewership.

I really can't stand deconstructive pedants.

Strategy is enormously important in football so you're incorrect in the first place.

Secondly, it's entirely besides the point of what I was saying. The point is that just because you were good at something doesn't mean you're good at all at explaining it or thinking about it critically. Conversely, being bad at something doesn't mean you can't talk knowledgeably about it. Some of the best sports analysts never played past high school. Even if Day9 couldn't win a big tournament right now it doesn't preclude him from being incredibly knowledgeable and insightful.

Day9's thought experiments, best illustrated on Funday Mondays, really illustrate how deeply he thinks about the game. Yeah you have goofy shit like Uniden. You also have things like his mass queen episode that really shows off angles that people haven't considered, and strategies people are too inside-the-box to think of or try.

First of all, thanks to both of you for misquoting/misreading my comment !

I'm sure (I think) that I said, and I quote myself, "strategy isn't even the most important thing". Maybe I'm a "deconstructive pedant", or a fool like someone else would say, but it doesn't mean UNIMPORTANT like you guys are saying. Physical abilities are the most important thing in Football. You can't make me believe that strategy is more important than that. Even if a high school team had the BEST strategist of the whole world, and a professional football team one of the worst, the professional team would win for sure. Does that mean "that strategy is unimportant" ?
Make your own conclusions, but please, don't misquote me again.

Now to answer the Day[9] thing, I didn't even mean it as a bad way you know. If I was, I would use "noob" instead of "newbie". Now if I said that Day[9] only knew how to theorycraft maybe it would be in a bad way, but I didn't say so.

I must admit I was wrong though, he's also popular because he's entertaining.

EDIT: I removed some parts as I wrote the post too quickly, and I deemed that these parts were unnecessary.
