I watched the Supernova series before learning of his struggles earlier in the day and thought Idra looked like a total beast in game 3. Not sure what happened against Feast and Kas but this vT looked very good. GL to Idra going forward.

Think of this - part of Idra's style - and why he does so well - is that he's able to cut corners against opponents using his knowledge of builds and the metagame. He knows when he has to expect aggression and when he can drone and expand out of control. He's been in Korea for quite a while now, and he's probably missed out on how foreigners play, and as a result his game against Koreans, which is brutal (evidenced by vs Supernova) doesn't wind up working vs foreigners.

Not an excuse, and because of the way he plays he basically needs to play a lot on all servers for international tourneys. Just a thought.

I think the Idra vs Supernova match couldn't really influence Supernova's final standing anymore, so I'm not sure why Supernova would play his best.
Well, now I tell you, I never seen good come o' goodness yet. Him as strikes first is my fancy; dead men don't bite; them's my views--amen, so be it.

edit:

Fail, misread the comment above. I still think Supernova wouldn't throw away games for fun.

Is exactly these kind of excuses Idra doesnt need. Lets be fair Idra played like shit today and he have for a long time and so did Kas and Supernova. Supernova lost to Feast also and barely manage to beat Kas.

Idra needs a break and got a long road ahead of him to climp to the top of the foriegn scene again. He needs to work on his general mechanics and decision making. he got supplied blocked so much this tournament it was so frustating to watch.

I just think there is way to much pressue on him atm so I think EG would be smart to just give him a big break lat him enjoy life abit.

The worst thing they can do is some "PR SOTG" crap with bad excuses. Im sure Idra will be back he just need a break from the spotlight and hard work

No. In countless tournaments Koreans have demonstrated that competing at a high level in the Korean scene provides you with everything you need to dominate foreign competitions. Idra just didn't play well enough in his first games, it's not the Korean metagame that made him lose these matches.
Mutation complete.

Well Feast is an absolute beast but I definitely don't think IdrA is a worse player than either ReaL or Darkforce.

I just hope IdrA doesn't lose hope for this game, he's so gosu but I have some weird feeling he's not as passionate as he were before... Don't know why I'm thinking this though. Hope it's just nonsense.

Before I go into what I think happened with IdrA here in IEM, let me just get one thing out of the way: I am not trying to excuse his results - they are about as bad as they could be at present, even if you look beyond the score and at the game play.

By now it should be public information that IEM has not exactly been top notch when it comes to accommodation and I think that's pretty key for IdrA, since he has stated before that he does not deal well with lack of sleep, bad food ect. From my point of view this has IdrA coming into the tournament in a bad shape. He goes into a ZvP against a not terribly intimidating but highly non-standard Protoss that was willing to take chances against him on Daybreak. This is a map which IdrA has expressed frustration with in the match up before and against a player he almost certainly doesn't want to lose to ever. Losing to real in this series and perhaps more importantly sensing that he is playing poorly has a severe negative effect on IdrA.

By the time the ReaL series is over I think we are seeing an IdrA that has more or less given up on the tournament and just want to get to the next one. Hopefully he gets off to a better start in the next tournament and I hope that at some point a tournament where he has a few more days to settle in comes along.

Because Idra's the only one who suffered jetlag and poor accommodations...? Those conditions weren't applicable to the other players correct?

And lol if he's going to give up on a tournament after the first 2 games then he should reallythink twice about calling himself a professional.

I think what happened is simply Idra got outplayed because he isn't as good as the opposition he faced.

your dumb, koreans dont hold back, there obsessed with pleasing there fans, the whole reason they drop manner mules and do dances is becuase korean fans love it

no reason to play his berst? how about for his fans? unlike what seems like most foreigners (im looking at you Naniwa and Stephano) Koreans actually put there fans first

IdrAs poor result is becuase of the following
1) shitty map pool all his maps agaisnt protoss were protoss favoured and not in the way idra would ahve preferred, daybreak protoss get a free third and i dont think idra is used to palying a greedy toss and Antiga is antiga nuff said

2) hes a very momentum player if Kas had been his first match he would have won but after losing to 2 protoss's in games like those on maps like those its obvious he wouldnt be in the best state of mind

You can't deny that Feast is miles away from IdrA right now, so stop fronting.
Sadly enough i'm not really disappointed by those results cause they came somewhat expected seeing his recent gameplay and mindset (which is the more important thing!). He really should be given a break to find the Gracken again..
