Personal attacks in this thread will draw a temp ban. |

no its group play, after group play he will play in the lowers champion chip bracket tomorrow later in the day, I have no idea what time . If he loses that then he's out.

i can only hope that his inner gracken will be released. it would break my heart to see him lose in the lower bracket.

The control was otherwise pretty good imo. Just needs more macro and something that marines don't counter.
This is pretty correct. Watching Idra v Boxer and Idra just generally against a lot of Terrans (Koreans it seems) Idra needs 6 banelings to connect. How many does Idra make? 6. If you watch for example against Boxer after holding off the blue flame perfectly he catches the marines coming in late. 2/ 3 baneling hits would of cleared that up how many does he make? 2 / 3. Idras not giving his opponent enough credit when it comes to either splitting marines or target firing the banes.
I know he plays this cut line style of Zerg where 16 lings exactly will hold of this precise attack at this precise moment but the games been out for a year micros evolved people have got better. He can't be the 3 banes will defeat the push so i'm not going to spend any extra gas / minerals to make more Zerg he wants to be.
I'd much rather he make 15 banes, waste 200 gas have only 3 banes connect defeat the push and have 12 banelings being useless than him dying to some stupid all in push because he's not giving marine splits and micro enough credit and then proceed to end up playing 200 gas behind. But Idra is Idra and a pro and he's been doing his own style for longer than I've been observing it so he'd obviously know a lot more about the situations than me but that's just my view on his ZvT lately.

"Sure man, what is it?"
"Please win." *cough*
Now if he doesn't win, I'll die unhappy and mentally scar IdrA for the rest of his life. If he does win,. I'll die smiling and make IdrA feel like a total badass...or maybe I'll even not die and make IdrA feel like god.
edit: Oh, and if I mentally scar IdrA, he'll be determined to win future events in memory of me. So basically it is a win/win situation...but how do I get cancer first?
truly yours, your biggest fan This is Stan

It is not the "lower bracket" its the main championship bracket. People go into the main championship bracket from open brackets and pool play. The worse you do in pool play, the more games you have to win in the main championship bracket.

I've never seen anyone already practicing a lot improve his performance notably after just 1 month with Korean training. If you are used to an outdated style it takes time to break it down and build it up from scratch, so I'm not sure if you should expect a skill increase out of Idra straight away. Long-term it's definitely beneficial though!

i dont think he got worse, he plays the same just everybody else got better

His insistence of making Mutas killed him vs. Sjow. You don't need 40 Mutas to threaten Terran, 20-22 would be more than enough, use the rest of the larva for a ling/bling cloud and Idra would have won both games. Not only mutas take 2 supply, but they are bad against marines, you waste so much gas for unnecessary mutas.
If he stopped at 20 mutas or so, got 4-5 infestors with a sizeable ling/bling force, Idra would have lolled at Sjow both games. No Terran can win against a Zerg that goes for a infestor/ling/muta/bling composition while sieging on creep with a small tank/marine force. With proper control, Zerg will almost always come out on top.
|
I don't understand why he won't make any infestors 2 infestors would win him both of the games and it's not like he didn't have time to make them.

There goes my morning... Heart breaking results T_T. There is absolutely no way for Idra to go top2 in his pool now? Thankfully, the Feel Good thread is here...
|
At previous MLGs he always did great during pool play, and when it came to bracket he was eliminated fast....
Let's hope that it is the other way round this time

Gogo Idra, everybody makes mistakes, inculding you. The problem with zerg is, you can be ahead the whole game, but when you make 1 bad engagement you can lose the game very easy. The other races have this a bit less. But IdrA fighting!! Come on man. Do what you need to do!

Ugh
Extended Derpies means it will be hard for idra to fight back through now

What's happened to Idra?

I couldn't catch IdrA's matches against Sjow, but I was really disappointed when I saw the results this morning.
After reading through the posts in this thread, it seems that he was doing his standard: "I'm-better-than-everyone-else-and-terran-is-stupid-so-I'm-just-gonna-play-a-macrogame-like-I've-always-done-with-mass-mutas-and-if-I-lose-I-blame-it-on-terran-opness-attitude".
I really hope he can get his shit together and start being overly safe rather than doing these on-the-edge-strategies like making JUST enough lings/blings to hold off timing pushes. He shoulder OVER-protect himself in the early/mid-game because he almost NEVER loses late-game.
The only time I've seen him lose late-game I think is vs Zenio in the NASL and MC in the DH Sthlm invi. So IdrA: Please over-defend yourself, and then abuse your better mechanics in the late-game.
IdrA Fightning Day 2&3!!!!

Just playing Devil's advocate here. Maybe he never loses in the late game because he plays such a corner cutting early game?

You... might have a good point right there!
But against players like Sjow (who I think he's more than marginally better than), it's possible he could profit from what I suggested
