That proves that he absolutely owns at teaching. ![]() I just watched that and while Sean's explanation is good, the result he gets is actually wrong. 14 choose 8 is actually 3003, not ~400. (Unless of course I'm stupid and I'm completely missing something) Nevertheless, day9 is the best Starcraft 2 commentator and teacher and an all-around excellent human being, so please sign me up for his fan club.

Like when the pieces are named ABCDEF then this position: |A||DE||BCF||| would be the same as this: |A||ED||BCF||| If the pieces are distinct, I think the number of positions should simply be 6^9. I don't know the game he's talking about though, so maybe I'm totally wrong.

But Tasteless referred to Day9 as his younger brother in one of the GSL streams. I was surprised to hear that and I looked them up on Liquipedia and it's true. Tasteless is 2 years older than Day9. I don't know why I thought that it way the other way around. wut O___O I just checked this and your right! i could swear day[9] said he was older, also note that day[9] has different birthdays and liquipedia and liquipedia 2...

![]() Also, I attempted to use stars&bars to calculate and represent board positions for mancala in my game theory research group in college in like 2003. It impressed my professor cuz it was a more elegant solution (our previous hash was brute-force--just a number from 0 to 20 in each slot in an array, which includes tons of impossible board positions, like 20 stones in every bucket), so stars&bars has always had a special place in my heart. Day[9] and I have so much in common. Clearly he should marry me.

Day 9 helped me a lot, I'm a new player and it was really easy to learn with the day 9 daily's. HD & Husky are quite funny to listen too, but you don't learn anything from them. Of course, Day 9 is there to save the day !
