Trainee cost should come out of profits which is why everyone and their mothers always say that to launch an idolgroup you need to spend big bucks before you see a return and it will take years to make it back. That's why they always have such shitty contracts when they are just starting out because the company wants their money back. Something is off here...

Exactly what I was thinking, 300k and they debuted in 2012, pre-debut the costs should be low. Maybe it's just the number that the company has invested in her (which I assume is normally the risk of the company not hers), but in that case why would she be so desperate as to try and blackmail someone?

Yep I'm thinking that has to be the reason for the debt. She took a loan to be able to live with day to day expenses. I've never heard of such a shitty contract before that would put you in such heavy debt for things the company should pay for. I also wonder how legit such a contract would be and if it would be upheld in court if she would've protested it. Can you really write such a contract when the future is so uncertain? Hell not even Nine Muses had such shitty terms lol.

I don't know how the music industry works, but what I thought happened was that a company scouted for people for a group (or just a solo singer) that they think they could invest in. The costs of the investment would just be partially taken from the profits the soloist/group makes afterwards. I can't really imagine people paying to become music trainees, but maybe I'm wrong...but if what I said is true how does one spend $300,000 in two years on day-to-day expenses?

![]() I think it's safe to say that A Pink (#3) and Girl's Day (#6) are rising to the top of girl groups with their huge recent growth. The other ones listed in the top 5 are SNSD (#1), IU (#2; On October 13 2014 17:45 Disregard wrote: IU is a girl group amongst herself. Fair enough.
