Seems kind of unprofessional for SM to let EXO members date after such a short time in the limelight, and also the couple were really, really bad at being discreet. Looks bad all around. The fact that there was a no-dating policy in the first place is fucking stupid. How does it look bad? Saesangs can go suck a fat one. They knew what they signed up for as idols and I'm pretty sure discretion and minding their public image is one of them. The other members of SNSD went public with no problem but the latest reveal is such a mess. I think I remember reading it has been going on for like 4months? that's a pretty long time to keep it hidden from limelight...

When you start a career as demanding of your time and energy as working in the kpop industry why add an extra drain of time, energy, and focus? It's like any other job where smarter people tend to find their way and settle into a comfortable career path before branching into other things. If an EXO member thought that after less than a year of success after debut that they got the hang of things enough to start dating this way I'd question their mindset. I mean once you contrast that with Shinee it just looks worse. Also from the coverage I've seen of the couple they went full retard in being discreet while out on dates and also mislead their fans. The expected outcome has arrived and now I wonder how they will each drag down their own groups. I thought the whole point of SM preferring dating within the agency was so that it would be easier to keep on the down-low.

There are plenty of people with time consuming jobs that have kids and wives. Dating is hardly near that magnitude, such a dumb cop out. now there's an argument to be made that it'll hurt fan base, but seriously fuck that fan base that takes this kind of shit seriously.

Well my main point is that to me SM is slipping, they've always run a tighter ship than the other companies in my eyes but the last 6 months or so they've had so many messy situations come up. I agree and don't care if idols are dating or banging behind the scenes because obviously they have their own personal lives but for their managers to allow it to affect their professional image, the product which they are selling, seems weird. Anyways I'll just leave it at that.

idols are called idols for a reason - for many people, they're the ideal type of person you want to emulate/date, and the principle doubles for fans of the opposite gender if your idol is taken, then you move on, and it inherently hurts the image of the group in the long run. there's a major male celebrity in hong kong that secretly dated the same woman for over two decades before finally marrying in secret. ofc his story is somewhat of a hyperbole, but if you're committed to becoming a celebrity/idol, you have to just accept that your personal life is either nonexistant or extremely constricted. that's why I've never really understood why people bash an idol/celeb for getting plastic surgery it's their job to be in the limelight and hold up under the scrutiny of the public.
