And that's the kind of move you want to do as a group that has already establish its dominance. Do you seriously expect SNSD doing nearly as well as they're now if they released something like All My Love is For You as their debut in Japan?
It's all about timing upon release, same thing applies with collaboration heavy albums, it's something you want to do after a couple of solid albums, it's not something you want to do as a debut.
You have to prove that your group can do super solid mainstream stuff, before venturing out with more mellow releases.

Well this really depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to be the next SNSD? Or are you ok with playing off a slightly more niche market?
And many super popular performers didn't start super mainstream. IU didn't. 2ne1 certainly didn't.
Also look at which there are more of. It's much easier to break into a market where nobody has a real stranglehold.

So T-ara isn't coming back with lil kids now?!
KKS confirmed for pedo status? first Dani, now lil kids w/ T-ara.
I really have no idea what CCM's direction with T-ara is going. T-ara's not going to recover until they have a full release (EP or Album), a single + repackage not really going overshadow the "incident", and neither are lil kids.

I see where you're going with this, though I agree on the IU, and 2ne1 point. The problem is Fiester isn't "extreme" enough in their approach to a niche market. I get more of the "mediocre" (I don't mean this as in "average" in terms of "goodness", I mean this in terms of how mellow the MV was) pop vibe, than I do a "niche" genre direction.
Also, why didn't Pledis choose Love Appeal as Hello Venu's debut song? It's my favorite out of that EP release.
I had a 10 hour day of school, I missed out on so much. This is the break down of my Korean class. 60% fat fangirls, 20% Chinese kids, 20% regular, random people, implying the Chinese aren't normal lol. I'm definitely normal. And welcome back Wei2, I kinda forgot you existed, it's been so long.
I like Fiestar but wtf we're comparing them Crayon Pop, step it up yo. And now I'm excited for some freaking Lizzie and Hyosung <3

Hara doing the Butt Dance for the old people and Yuri spelling her name with her butt omg <3
In Vista, I like the moves when Linzy is singing her big solo parts, when Jei is singing in the bridge and they kind of dip and come back up while rotating their hips, and I like the move where they kind of swing their arms at their heads and their hair goes crazy. I think the choreo is pretty good actually since there is a bit going on.

I dunno if you watched IY, but remember each member would occasionally joke or copy another dance from an MV? Like they would do a 5 sec Gee dance motion, or do the Butt Dance, and what not, and it was instantly recognizable? Fiestar doesn't have that impact, at least for me. Most of their members are very cute, time to start memorizing more names/faces.... If only I studied as hard for my classes.
Crayon Pop is KMD's secret weakness. true story. If only japan didn't exist, we'd get so much more crayon pop goodness.
For me the debut of the year is Crayon Pop. Only black mark on their record is already being so involved in Japan. I really want to see them crack Korea, and was genuinely disappointed they didn't manage it this time.
It's only been a couple months since we first saw bing bing, and yet they feel like an established group.
Out of the poll of debuts, TTS is the clear choice for me, even though it was just a joke. They came out with a full album and I enjoyed most of the songs.
Sorry but I was being hawked by security so I didn't get any good fan cams of songs. I tried sneaking it but the angles were awful since I couldn't stare at the screen and make it obvious. I did get this though after the show.
Too much media to go through now. More to come sometime next week...

Tonight on M!Countdown (6pm KST I think). They ditched the little kids and prerecorded it instead.
My choice for debut of the year would be Ailee. It feels like she's been around for a while but she only debuted early February this year. I enjoyed Heaven immensely and loved her performances on Immortal Song 2. Can't wait for new music from her.
What happened to Gangkiz is that, although I like all the songs they released and they look good, their sound is already covered by T-ara and they haven't done anything else to make me think they will be interesting to follow in the future. Crayon Pop, while only releasing 2 songs and having minimal music show appearances, have kept me entertained for the last 2 months.
Also, they have cute twins and Soyul can sing troteu. I'm old, these things are important.

Ailee has been pretty amazing, while I didn't enjoy heaven that much her versatility in Immortal Song has continued to impress me. I can say I am a fan now, especially if she keeps singing songs like this one.
Probably her best stage while on Immortal Song 2, now that she is not doing the show anymore I expect her comeback should be coming soon.

Sigh... I guess I'll have to wait until next week for actual live performances. Thanks man!

Ailee is extremely talented and is also my favorite debut of the year. Now she needs to start making a full album...

Yeah kpop is running short of female ballad singers atm... I'm always hungry for more Ailee!
