However, Korea really seems to suffer from a problem with 'netizens' and the power they seem to have over public opinion and real life events. A lot of the fans are young girls with not much else in their lives aside from studying and doing what their parents tell them to. This is their way of expressing themselves. However, those expressions aren't always pretty. Also a lot of the time Korea feeds into this notion that fairytale romances and perfect, virgin idol group members actually exist. Some of the television here is completely ott sentimental and whilst it's comforting at times a lot of people don't realize how fake it all is. (Especially if they're younger and impressionable.) So the fans build up this perfect image of their idols and then when the so-called 'anti-fans' dig up things like Jay's Myspace scandal etc their reactions are far stronger than they might be in places where not being perfect isn't seen as such a crime. I wondered what the reaction would have been if Jay was involved in the same scandal related to Britain. No one would give a crap imho. After all lots of British and American celebrities are apparently engaged in drugs, crime and tartiness (lol) and even once real hard proof comes out they just go to rehab or continue on like normal. I read the fan accounts posted a couple of pages back and I'm sticking with my initial assessment of the situation. This kind of goes for all the bands I'm into over here including the girl groups; + As an older female fan I am not delusional enough to think that they're all lovely people with squeaky clean pasts. No one is that vacuum sealed when it comes to life. There are going to be bitches and assholes working in Kpop. It's unavoidable. Also things like them having boyfriends/girlfriends/pet sheep and smoking, drinking etc. It's par for the course. As long as they're not going round smacking people and drunk driving like Kangin did then they're entitled to live their lives. + Unless I see it with my own eyes, hear it with my own ears...photograph it etc. I'm not going to get sucked into the whole conspiracy/speculation drama. Whatever happened, happened (in relation to 2pm.) and nothing I say or do will change it. It's a sad situation, but people need to move on. I'm not about to hate an idol without concrete proof they're a horrible person. It's more fun to just appreciate them on a completely superficial level anyway. Kpop isn't exactly deep and meaningful to begin with so I'd rather spend my time oogling/photographing Jessica than wondering if she's a bitch. Anyway.....more soshi gifs please! None of us truly know how these idols are away from the public image. It's frivolous to say "this person is a jackass" or "this person is a really nice guy" because we just don't know. As far as 2PM is concerned, all these reports from fans are coming out about the rest of 2PM's poor behaviour and apparent bad attitude, but those fans have their own agenda to push as well. We're all much better off just appreciating what we see and hear and not worrying about what kind of people they really are. | ||
