Oh, and of course 9 is the magic number, pretty hard to deny that, but I don't see why being 3 would be a problem either, as long it's not something drastic like a permanent split up.

Pretty good MV, I think they are capable of so much better. The song could be much better, but it will still go up high on the charts for a few weeks.

Fair enough, but why Twinkle, it was like the worst song on the album :o On April 30 2012 23:12 betamale wrote: i still cant get past the fact she doesnt have eyebrows makes the MV unwatchable since im just focusing on the eyebrows (or lack thereof) Talk about focusing on the wrong things >.>

Although generally I tend to like title tracks of pop/dance tracks more because they tend to be the poppiest/danciest for obvious reasons, and for some reason non title tracks for such groups tend to be more vocally oriented which isn't what I'm looking for from them.

I'm not really a SNSD fan, sure they got some good songs that I play occasionally but this deserves a WUT?!

As for the MV, fuck, that was amazing. Especially the first scene where they get out of the car. Seohyun is a goddess, she keeps getting prettier every time, it's unreal. I really liked Taeyeon's hair in this MV. Tiffany was gorgeous as always, those winks and eye smiles are killer. I'm a big fan of story MV's though, but I guess the song isn't really fit for that. I have to say Twinkle is a song that I really like. I liked it in the teasers, and after listening to it a few times it's really good. It's very unique and I'm sure it'll make for a good song on music shows, especially when they get to sing it live, as these three are very strong vocal wise. Bonus Fany gifs from the MV + Show Spoiler + ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() There we go.

This (obviously) gives them a very western sound, which I'm not looking for at all. (It doesn't help that those tracks were rejected by American artists, making them in some sense secondhand castoffs). They ended up being generic pop shit that was neither distinctive nor catchy. Twinkle was written by white dudes too but somehow avoided this generic pop trap. I don't know what inspired said white dudes to go on a funk inspired trip but I can't complain. I can't explain my distaste for Oh or Genie other than they had a bubblegum cutesy sound that didn't hit my bubblegum cutesy preferences, just didn't sound good to me. I like Twinkle because they go for a different sound (funk) and by cutting the other 6 members allowed the subgroup to focus the song in such a way that made it enjoyable- the runs that comprise almost all of the second half of the song would not be possible had this been a full SNSD group song, since having a performance that consists of 8 members doing random dance moves while Taeyeon belts out runs for 1 and a half to 2 minutes makes for an uncompelling performance. Hell, this whole song is something that you couldn't do with all 9, which is why I think that SM finally broke down on their no subgroups for SNSD policy. Actually, SM is doing better as a management company than they have done in awhile. I don't know if they received a demo of the song first or decided to make a subgroup first, but the song and subgroup fit in a way that makes TTS distinctive and Twinkle as a song they can own in a sense that few if any other kpop groups could perform it. Vocally it's hard, harder than most groups can handle. (sidenote: I'm actually skeptical that TTS can sing it. Certainly Taeyeon is capable of her bits but I'd be interested to see if the other 2 handle their verses live). The worst thing now would be for them to perform live and it's mostly lipsynced or extremely loud backtrack. The focus is on the vocals here and having them not on display would undermine what the group is meant to stand for). It gives TTS a chance to be a distinctive group, something that SM has apparently forgotten how to do, as lately all SM group's marketing and concept seem to be "I'm from SM, I'll release this generic pop song and dominate because I'm from SM and SM's got marketing money". TTS has been allowed to establish for themselves a concept and flavor as a vocal-oriented group, and for once this isn't BS marketing on SM's part. They also went for a more distinctive sound than just the pop/electronic influenced music that is so favored by SM nowadays (Shinee seems to be the only other group avoiding this as they've kept largely the same sound for most of the group's lifespan). I like the soul inspired back-track and melody. It's the kind of slightly weird retro-callback sounds that I like in my kpop (I liked Roly Poly and Shy Boy, guess what those two have in common) and I'm glad they chose this direction, or hell went for a direction at all. Cutting off short at this point cause my lecture is over and I have to go lol.

edit- @Hyaach it's multiple people and once again, just stop commenting everytime anyone says shit you don't like. It's how we generate 10+ pages of inane arguments. If she works for you, fine say so, but complaining whenever someone states an opinion you don't like is dumb, there's going to be differing opinions in this thread and that's something you're just going to have to deal with.
