Rabbit-dol Dal Shabet has spread word on their start as a super girl group in the year of the rabbit.

Before their debut, they gathered attention being called ‘The 2nd Girl’s Generation’. Also produced by the same people that produced SNSD’s hit song ‘Gee’ and average height of 169, a very tall girl group, skinny figure, and colorful appearance was enough to get attentions from netizens.

The interest towards Dal Shabet after their debut has become even hotter. E-Tribe’s produced title song ‘Supa Dupa Diva’ showing their lively qualities, their recognition in the music industry is quickly rising.

The group name Dal Shabet means ‘Sweet Sherbert’. Leader Biki, Serri, Jiyul, Ahyoung, Gaeun, Subin 6 person group has “95% freshness and 5% sexiness. We’ll melt the fans with our diverse qualities” showed their ambitions from said statement.





Appearances that overflow with individuality, with various fancy outfits the members’ backgrounds are diverse.

Leader Biki was a trainee student at Jewelry Seo In Young’s company Star Empire for 5 years, while performing on their stages she dreamed of being a singer.

For Ahyoung, as soon as she debuted she became a Volkswagen commercial model with her innocent and cute appearance. She also appeared on the youth musical ‘Nonsense’ in a Sister role, a skillful individual.

While spending her childhood years in the UK (United Kingdom, Britain), Jiyul raised her dream as a singer seeing the Spice Girls. Serri has learned from jazz dance, pop dance, hip hop, and even aerobic able to absorb many different genres, also has earned many awards in dance competitions.

‘The role of increasing the average height’ for Gaeun and Subin were models. With solid and skinny body owner Gaeun, has been a shoes model for Seoul Collection, and the team’s maknae Subin also has experience in modeling.

This is not a group you can be first awed at the visuals, ‘Winning with visuals’ should not be attempted. Their dreams and aspirations to become singers are comparable to any other artists, and they put their all in practicing. They struggled but finally debuted as artists.

The team’s leader Biki and maknae Subin while talking about their debut story, they broke into tears.

“Living as a trainee student, 4 years passed by so fast. Jewelry’s Seo In Young, V.O.S sunbaes were promoting I was on the stage with them and I never took a day off. It was tough maintaining my stamina, was tough and really painful. Debuting was far away and since there were no members to do it together, it was difficult and I cried a lot. Once I saw Girl’s Generation sunbaes perform on stage, I was envious that I cried at the emergency exit. Every day were critical situations, but I think that has become the foundation so I can be Dal Shabet today.” – Biki.

“To become a model when I was in 2nd year of middle school I came up to Seoul from Gwangju. Since our household was poor I lived at a hostel, followed around model-unnis mooching off their food, also lived in Korean saunas… really I have shed countless tears. Suffering right now compared to back then, it’s not hard at all, and I’m happy I can do something I want to do." - Subin.





Dal Shabet prepared under the hit song maker E-Tribe for their debut. They say that E-Tribe oppas normally are like our nice like actual older brothers, but when we enter practice they transform into strict teachers and did intense training.

“Every day from 10am to 2am we practiced daily. Once while wearing heels we practiced to 6am. Dancing for around 20 hours, our toes were scraped and blisters were basic, and our knees were dark with bruises as well. Still with their intense training I think we got better in a short time and gave us confidence.”

Dal Shabet even before their debut with the keyword ‘The 2nd Girl’s Generation’ following them around had antifans before they could gather fans. For rookie artists would be something hard to handle but they say it’s a ‘good feeling attention’ and think of this positively.

“When we released our group picture, there were articles saying it was similar to Girl’s Generation and lots of people misunderstood. There were hurtful comments like ‘with those high heels, they must be short’ ‘their legs are thick and ugly’. Being in the center gathering focus gave us burden and responsibility, we wanted to prove on stage so we will try harder and meet expectations."

On the topic on other girl groups, we asked what can differentiate Dal Shabet from others, and they responded full of confidence.

“We have a sweet & fresh appearance and solid musicality. Vocal wise we have a strong base also. E-Tribe oppa says ‘Different from other girl groups there is nobody that cannot sing, so the growth potential is high’. Also another different part, voice color is husky and unique is one of our appeals.”

‘Supa Dupa Diva’ produced by E-Tribe meaning the best star female singer meaning, has a strong addicting melody. Also with their shaking their butts left and right, ‘jjang-goo dance’ expected to become trendy.

Dal Shabet’s Jiyul - “With injury, give up on ballet, wanted to die”.



Rising rookies Dal Shabet with ‘Supa Dupa Diva’, ‘Pink Rocket’ and now with their 3rd mini album ‘Bling Bling’ are gaining popularity. Debuting this January, Dal Shabet never took a break during these 8 months. Through that Dal Shabet grew enough, to aim for the rookie award.

Dal Shabet through auditions had spent trainee days for 1-2 years and tasted frustration, suffered through depression, and says they even experienced hopelessness. However Dal Shabet members now banded together and fought on, can hope for a ‘bling bling’ like hope. Within Dal Shabet’s member Jiyul, we slightly get a sense of her worry, conflict and her hope.

Q. How were Dal Shabet Jiyul’s trainee days?

Jiyul – "For me while being a model in 2009, because I wanted to become a singer I knocked on the door of Happy Face Ent. And luckily got picked as a trainee and joined the members in practice.

At that time from 10am to 2am not even taking off our heels we practiced in an underground practice room learning choreography and vocals. Because the training was so tough, I broke down in tears often.

Thinking about that now, there were other trainees who practiced longer, so with the thought of this as a lucky opportunity for me, I am doing my best.”

Q. Was it comfortable becoming a trainee and debuting as a singer?

Jiyul – "While being active I never thought I was comfortable. Rather I thought that I needed to work even harder. To go through our schedules we woke up in the AMs to receive makeup, to maintain our weight exercised often. I ran in a schoolyard near our dorms, and even doing 1,000 jump ropes I controlled my conditions. It’s hard to do this every time but since I love being a singer, I can take this."

Q. Anyone around you thought of suicide?

Jiyul – "I am friendly with other trainee unnis. So I hear lots of stories too. One time a trainee got so much stress from dieting, that person was admitted to a mental hospital for treatment. There are people who also become anorexic, and depressed as well.

Because I felt depressed during my training, I can understand them. However if you just endure that crisis, I think good things will happen."

Q. Did you ever think of suicide?

Jiyul – "Truthfully when I was 5 until 15 I did ballet. But the reason I stopped doing it is because I ruptured my Achilles tendon. I wanted to major ballet in university, but with injury I could not continue ballet.

That time, I really wanted to die. I did not go to school and thought of deathly thoughts every day. But the person who opened my eyes was my dad.

He said ‘Even now, it’s not too late. Find something you can do’. So then I started studying. When my grades started rising slowly, that started giving me confidence.

I thought of suicide, but since I survived the crisis I became a model, and since I love that I can be active as a singer. Really it’s hard to predict what can happen to any person. If there is a person that might have suicidal thoughts, they have to do their best to be positive minded, and hope the people around can cheer them on."

Q. Do you get along well with Dal Shabet members?

Jiyul – "At first because we were all from different environments, it was hard to become friendly. But after a month or two we learned each other’s personality and started understanding each other, now we’re like family.

While promoting we monitor and cheer each other on, so it’s good. If we have worries or problems with each other, we solve it through conversation."

[Dal Shabet] – Everyone is hygienic. If you could pick someone, it would be Subin. Really our dorm is extreme. Somedays it’s really clean, and other days like a love house.


Q. @Dwd78: Right now I’m going to school, if noonas go back to school what would you like to do?
[Dal Shabet] – Eat junk food, shopping, and campus dating. Also would like to buy sausage bread, and picnic drinks.


Q. @940113_: (Baek Subin) What was your childhood dream?
[Subin] – In our school festivals, I wanted to become a girl group so I can show my friends that was my dream.


Q. @yosc1234: Which girl groups are you most friendly with???
[Dal Shabet] – We are all friendly with people that promoted around the same time.
[Biki] – I’m friendly with Rainbow’s Jaekyung, and T-ara’s Hwayoung.

Q. @Mhighly: When you’re tired, how do you each deal with it?
[Subin] – I’m friendly with my younger dongsaeng. Since we’re on good terms, we talk with each other a lot.

Q. @Dwd78: Is there any nicknames members call each other?
[Dal Shabet] – We call Subin ‘ahunggg’ (sound) Lion and Kingpin hyungnim. Gaeun jindo dog, Biki – BikiDaejang (Daejang = boss), Jiyul is YanngJungPal (Close to her name Yang Jung Yoon, can a Dal Shabet fan tell me what this is rawrz)

[T/N – So after doing some research some actor named Sung Dong Il appeared on an old 1998 Drama called ‘EunShil-ee’, about a truthful story about a family living the rough life in the countryside, popularized red socks red long johns. [Ahyoung] – I really love myself. During Japanese class I said ‘Ahyoung-hime’, the members were surprised. [Hime meaning princess]


Q. @rolldeeeep: If you currently had in hand 5 million won [Roughly $4.4k USD] and one week of free time, what would you do?
[Subin] – I’d give my mom the 5 million won, and go to Myungdong and play.
[Ahyoung] – I would buy what I need, and buy presents for my parents and leftovers to them.
[Serri] – Half to parents, half into savings


Q. @Mhighly: If there was something special in my fans?
[Biki] – For us they’re friendly like our boyfriends, and a strong attachment. There was a fan that came from Jeju Island on a plane to Seoul. I was thankful.


Q. @940113_: Most sleepy member??
[Dal Shabet] – Probably Gaeun that sleeps the most.
[Serri] – Each member has a specific time they wake up hehe.


Q. @42EUNJIN: For unnis, the song you feel most attached too?
[Biki] – In our first mini album’s 1st track ‘Dal Shabet’. All the members created the rap. The song contains our aspirations and confidence, when it’s tough when I listen to the song I regain my confidence.


Q. @ilove6639: The sexiest member?
[Dal Shabet] – Biki unni-yo.
[Biki] – All girls can be sexy. But for me, I have some skills, haha.


Q. @fly_thesky: Does anyone have any bad habits? Such as biting your nails.
[Biki] – I think eating too much chocolate is a bad habit. T.T I got scolded by mom so I’m trying to reduce it.
[Gaeun] – I drink coffee on an addiction-level.


Q. @EliteHoon: Which members have the most aegyo!! [T/N - aegyo = cute gestures]
[Ahyoung] – When we do aegyo, Jiyul-ee usually stops us.
[Serri] – Even though Subin is the maknae [Youngest] she has the least aegyo T.T
[Jiyul] – When I was young I lived alone, maybe that’s why.


Q. @Mhighly: After debut there are probably many things you wanted to do, if you became an invisible person the thing you would to do most?
[Biki] – I want to go club.
[Dal Shabet] – Trying our normal things. Going out and drinking with friends, and other activities.


Q. @dalualove: Biki-ssi is known for being a charismatic leader. Why is your me2day photo so cute ^^ <Dalua> [Dalua was a Dal Shabet fansite http://www.dalshabet.vuu.kr seems like it dissolved]
[Ahyoung] – On stage despite her charisma, her personality itself is cute.
[Jiyul] – People see Biki-unni has a strong person, but she’s very girly.


Q. @dalualove: During fan sign meetings, what are you thinking? <Dalua>
[Ahyoung] – There are so many fans that buy CDs, so I’m very thankful.


Q. @Dwd78: When you receive presents, what do you do with them? My friends throw them away or pass them on keke.
[Biki] – For presents I get a lot of chocolate. Enough to get the nickname ‘Choki’.





Q. @JiYul_holic: What are some members’ sleeping habits?
[Dal Shabet] – Ahyoung, Biki, and Jiyul sleep quietly. Ahyoung and Biki wake up in the same position.
[Serri] – They say I groped Biki-unni.
[Biki] – I thought Serri was a guy at first. The hand movements were elaborate.


Q. @hyunah_wonkyung: Is there a fan that was most memorable!
[Jiyul] – There was a Japanese fan, send a message on me2day with ‘I’m going to go see unni’ and on that person’s birthday she personally found us, the next day went back to Japan. I was thankful.


Q. @Mhighly: When Dal Shabet songs are playing on the streets, what do you feel?
[Serri] – I want to go in the shop.
[Ahyoung] – My desire to shop rises.
[Subin] – I secretly said ‘Dal Shabet is so good’ like I wasn’t Dal Shabet once.


Q. @Dwd78: Do you guys study?
[Subin] – Our schedule’s too busy.
[Jiyul] – When we go to the salon, there’s always a newspaper. I can’t study like a student but I know common knowledge^^.

Q. @leeta58: Your previous company mates Four Men oppas also did this, how do you feel right now?? Hehe.
[Serri] – Very good. Seeing comments asking like this, it feels like they’re next to us.

[Ahyoung] – There is no set time.
[Subin] – Around 4-5am. Usually don’t sleep at night. I think our patterns switched ^^.


Q. @rngksks0201: Serri-unni~ I’m on a diet right now, what can I do so I can be slim like unni? Is there a personal methodu? If there is please tell me~ Also proportions too~
[Serri] – Two meals settled with shakes and one proper meal, and nightly do 1,000 jump ropes and sleep. ^^.

“Looks like I’m already in my mid 20’s. As an idol I may be a bit old, but I’m thankful to start working what I like to do. Compared to friends close to my age. 2012 LimJinNyun, as much as the year of the black dragon rises, I’ll do my best to spread Dal Shabet’s name to the public.

Dal Shabet first debuted in 2011 January with ‘Supa Dupa Diva’ and entered the music industry. Afterwards ‘Pink Rocket’, ‘Bling Bling’ etc new songs were released, and without break promoted through 2011.

Now meeting 2012, to come back again they turned over a new leaf. We learn about this in this year of the Black Dragon special, Dal Shabet’s leader Biki promises and plans in Issue Daily.

“2011 to me, felt like a day passed by for me. Time went by really fast. Debuting with ‘Supa Dupa Diva’ continued with ‘Pink Rocket’ released and we promoted. Also ‘Pink Rocket’ and between ‘Bling Bling’ performances and promos, we had zero days of rest and dashed forward. Because my dream came true that year, it has meaning to me and will never forget it.



First debut stage, Biki still cannot forget that moment. Before debut being a back dancer for around 4 years, she experienced the stage personally until she could become the main character herself, and to receive the cheers of the public she waited and waited.

“Constantly in the back, and when I came center and grabbed the mike ‘Ah I finally debuted’ thought came up, my heart overflowed with joy. Even now when I think of that moment, I get choked up in emotion and exhilarated."





Recently a Korean Gallup from ages 13 to 59 both sexes 3,401 questioned and resulted, this year’s best girl rookies Dal Shabet was selected.

“In 2011 lots of rookie groups debuted, I want to thank the people who picked out Dal Shabet. I feel more responsible now. That question poll had 2NE1 2 years ago, and Miss A last year. Right now receiving lots of praise, I’m happy and honored to continue the line. We’ll answer this spotlight as rookies, into great stages, we promise. (laugh)

[Talk about being focused in practice while preparing new album with E-Tribe]

“Up until now we showed lively and cute appearance, but with our new album we’ll show our sexy and chic qualities. The song’s lyric represent a girl that has felt hurt from a guy, representing her thoughts. I bet lots of guys hearing this song probably will be picked at their conscience. (laugh)”

[Talks about Biki’s role as a leader, and showed aegyo-like appearances not shown broadcasted]

“Above me I have an older brother, and many older cousins that are guys. Amongst many oppas, I have lots of aegyo and a joking personality. But becoming the leader trying control the dongsaengs, I became calm and mature a bit. Until now through Dal Shabet I did not have a chance to show my true self, if I get a chance I’ll show my bubbly appearance.”

“If in 2011 we spread the word Dal Shabet has debuted, in 2012 I want to become a bit more famous. (laugh) Comparing our skills and other sides, I want to show that we ‘Oh Dal Shabet is doing their best and has grown’. Through this new album, we’ll try our best to become noticed to the public.”



Biki also continued not forgetting the fans that cheered them on.

“Since we did not rest the whole year, our fans continued to cheer us on as well. I’m so thankful to our fans. Looking at our fans, I feel strength. Whenever I see fan signs with our names on them, it gives me motivation to try harder. I hope you guys don’t change and look after us. Ah! Almost forgot, lastly hope you all have good fortune in new year’s.”

Q. ID hongsua: As you got older, what solidified your dream on becoming a singer?
“I was a trainee for 8 years and debuted, but at first I just stubbornly chose becoming a singer. It wasn’t a clear vision as a dream; just becoming one was the goal. But from 3rd, 4th year within my back dancer days, that dream became stronger. Behind Seo In Young unni’s ‘Cinderella’ stages and I also performed behind many songs as a dancer. Not just as a backup, I wanted to feel the cheers grabbing the mike in the front as a singer, and to achieve this dream I did not rest even a day and ran.” – Biki.

Q. ID ‘Thread of Reinforcement’ - What’s the reason you surprised kissed ‘teok-dol-ee’ oppa?

Q. ID Goora – The member that has the most secrets?
“I think the member with the most secrets must be Gaeun. The reason why is Gaeun always receives positively, and never says bad things. So it must be really tough for her, really it’s been over a year she never complains once, she probably has received more hurt and the most secrets in her head.” – Jiyul.

Q. ID ‘Broadcaster’ – Dal Shabet received Golden Disk rookie award, please give us your impressions on winning.
“For a year, to be active safely and to enjoy this is all because of the fans, so I feel more responsible now. Even afterwards, we’ll be hard working Dal Shabet. Love Love~” – Ahyoung.

Q. ID ‘Sulky’ – Gaeun-ssi in the idol track meet you beat the strong contender Bora-ssi and won, how did you do it?
“Yes, this is 50m Gaeun. ^^ How I did it, wah~ maybe because during Elementary school, I was a track athlete shortly, probably was a big help.” – Gaeun.
