To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules; - Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
- When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
- No reposting of old material unless justified
- Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
- No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
- Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
- No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
- No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
- Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up. |

A 5th rate copy of American hiphop with no creativity, but admittedly some technical proficiency. Charlatans. Wow. Who are you talking about here ? Better not be talking about MC Sniper... Korean Hip-Hop (the real shit, not like San E or dok2... Obviously) is on another level. By far better than 80-90% of the current rap being produced in the states. Drunken Tiger/Tiger JK Tasha (T) Yoon Mi rae Epik High and everyone involved with Map The Soul DJ Pe2ny Mc Sniper Outsider The Quiett Verbal Jint Eluphant All of them are pure dopeness and realness and I'll ride for them. Incredible music.
Well, I got bored of rap nearly 20 years ago, so perhaps it's just more interesting to people with a less jaded outlook on the whole genre.

Agree completely. If there was one area of Korean popular music where you CAN'T say that it is 'A 5th rate copy of their American counterpart', it would be hip hop. Either you've been listening to the wrong stuff, or... I don't even know. I really can't understand how someone can take any of the hip hop artists listed by TuElite and more and claim they have no creativity.

Korean Hip-Hop and Japanese rap as well are so different that the western stuff. So much more original and developed (weird, right?). Korean Hip-Hop feels a lot more worked and engineered to be as close to perfection as possible. It's an art form they take seriously, they don't do it for the money. It's a lot more musical and refined, you can tell from the productions and arrangements.
If you want to give it a shot, I'm sure you won't regret it, check out this thread on another website and just look for my post with Korean Hip-Hop in it. http://joebuddentv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114947

Hmm I must have missed that amidst the recent chaos that has happened here. Thanks for the repost though. I agree with you on the point that this is an enjoyable song unlike others SNSD has had lately. They should definitely promote it.

I think Let It Rain should go on the English album. That song was one of my favorites off the Japan album.

Rap was still quite fresh and rapidly evolving in the late 80s early 90s. I would argue that it became staler after 1995. If you were bored with the "golden age" of rap, I would say there's more wrong with you than with the industry.

I think I switched off some time after 36 chambers, so Early 90s. Around 18-19ish years ago. (not vastly different than around 20 years by my reckoning.) Yes, I'm old.

I see. But I hope you gave Liquid Swords (1995) a listen. I do agree that after 1995, things have definitely stagnated -- and imo, rap never has really recovered its momentum and freshness ever since.

Where are people's manner int his thread, twice already in a week... Ban me I need a break. He didn't call you stupid. I would explain what he was saying, but that would make me a condescending prick.
Maybe you do need a break if someone disagreeing with something you say results in you wishing their family dies.
Btw, I have liquid swords and some other wu solo stuff. cuban linx, return to 36 chambers, a couple ghost ones. Maybe 20 years ago was a bit over the mark, I just threw the number out there. My point was just that K hiphop doesn't impress me, and neither does western stuff much any more. Not really a hipster thing, I'm just old and jaded.

Probably, especially when you have to deal with crap like Soulja Boy today.

How childish, although I don't expect anything less from a guy who does nothing but spend his time fantasizing over his favorite "idol".

I guarantee that you know very little about real hip-hop, the garbage you hear on the radio is no indication of the state of american rap/hip-hop. Also you don't even know korean, how is it more refined if you don't know what they are saying lol.
+ Show Spoiler +I don't hate the mainstream stuff though I enjoy da bubblegum stuff sometimes nomsayin

Where are people's manner in this thread, twice already in a week... I can't even wrap my brain around how someone calling your statement stupid calls for wishing his family an agonizing death. You then ask where people's manners are? What the fuck?

lol the idiocy in this thread is over 9000.

Yep... well seems he was offended and Refused... like seriously? Looking at your profile, you barely post and you posted in KMD once. And all you offered was that his statement was complete shit.
