To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules; - Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
- When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
- No reposting of old material unless justified
- Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
- No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
- Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
- No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
- No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
- Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up. |

I know that her clothes are generally worth a lot, but if she can spend 2k on a handbag that she was seen wearing only once in public it definitely confirm that she's in GREAT financial shape. So happy for her. U GO GIRL, get money.
Of course she's in great financial shape, shes a celebrity.

My thoughts exactly, especially given how much of a devoted follower you seem to be, you of all people should not be surprised at the fact that she's got a ton of money.

KPOP celebrity = Rich is very often a wrong equation. 2 Years ago they were all living in a 2 bedroom apartment with only one small 20" TV. They were surviving on the few sponsorship and ads money some of the members would get. They often complained somewhat subtely about their situations on TV shows, often saying that times were hard, etc. Mainly due to what Zeru posted.
On January 31 2012 00:05 zeru wrote: Idol groups don't actually get a lot of money at all. Agencies take a shit ton of money the groups generate and they arent given much. Only top ones get decent money afaik, which however also comes from stuff like advertisements and tv shows. A lot of money has been put in to training them, then they end up as semi slaves. Just look at t-ara and secret.
And don't forget the scandal when they almost broke up their contract with their company, obviously due to money distribution.
They've only be getting money recently, with their huge success in Japan. hence why I'm happy they show it, they worked super hard and it payed off. But all the way up to the end of Mister promotions in Korea (when they started promoting it in Japan) they were struggling (That's a good ~3 years of rough times since their debut in 2007) and the future of the group was all but certain.
They talked somewhat in depth about that during 2 interviews if I remember correctly, one was on the radio, I remember having saved the .mp3 file on my old computer... All of the members ended up crying at the end and saying how thankful they were to the Kamilias and the supporters because times were really hard at first and they were questioning if they made the right choice of pursuing a career in entertainment, etc. (I'm going to go and look for that interview, need to find it again and archive that).
I find KARA's story to be inspirational. Great example that hard work ended up paying off.

To be fair more or less every member from the bigger groups are seen carrying quite expensive bags when they're travelling. Just because they are seen with brand clothes and bags doesn't necessarily mean they're especially rich. + Show Spoiler [shades and over sized bag] +

Sponsor bags are pretty usefull for sponsors.

ya I'm not sure how people glossed over the fact that having an overpriced bag = having money
even if it wasn't from sponsors, kids aren't exactly frugal with their money

Well it's that + the fact that they have their own places now, their own driver for their schedules, etc.

Can i get some evidence about the idols having financial hardships? IIRC, there was this post by roffles (maybe not roffles), about how we (most ppl) love poor, hard working and something something idols so that might just be a selling point and not real.
@Tuelite ive got nothing against kara, but they should consider themselves REALLY FUCKING lucky to be in their position instead of crying about it. Kara crying about their past hardship before their success is like a harvard student crying about his hardship of immense studying to get there, ronaldo crying about the hardwork he put to get where he is.

They're girls. The two examples you give are men. If KARA were men, then yes they wouldn't be crying.

Yeah I get your point, your right. I mean everyone has to put in work in order to succeed right ? So their situation are somewhat normal.
However, I just believe them. I don't think they act to seem more sad or anything. If anything, when they talk about the hardships it reflects poorly on their agency don't you think ? So I don't think they would get encouraged to talk about it too much. I might be wrong tho, but I choose to believe them.
Also, I think their situation might have been somewhat worse than what the average person will experience. When they signed up with DSP, they were all extremely young and were probably expecting to become instant-celebrities and lured in. The reality shock must have been quite hard. Some of the members also put their studies on hold to dedicate themselves to the group, in a sense risking their future/career. Then they become like slaves to the company and for 3 years see no form of success while working super extra hard... Must have been really hard...
I found one of the interviews I mentioned. + Show Spoiler +

Alright then, maria sharapova and a female harvard student.
Look, they probably did work hard no disagreements there. But they r just 1 of many ppl who work hard for success. korea is a dog eat dog world and hard work doesnt guarantee success in dat country. Ur average joe works hard as well.
Wat im gettin at is dat there r ppl who just as hard and end up only wit mediocrity. wat bout those who failed the idol audition? Wat bout those ppl wit actual singin talent? Wat bout those who wanted to bcome singers but their parents force them to study?
even if i believed them, there r far more things in life dat r worse and would actually deserve sympathy

Korean census or something did one of those things where they calculated average income per field, for entertainers it was 27k usd per year, which is basically nothing, especially when you consider about 1% of them make millions, meaning many make next to nothing.
Sharky's typing in that last post made my brain hurt.

I like CN Blue since they're a real band, maybe Norazo but that's more for the entertainment value.
