To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules; - Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
- When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
- No reposting of old material unless justified
- Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
- No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
- Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
- No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
- No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
- Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up. |

So do you guys see why Korean netizens are even more harsher than we could ever be when it comes to criticizing idols? The amount of devotion they pour out to their favorite idol groups via money, time, and attention is so much more on an exponential level than most people here on TL could ever output (combined even).

Yeah I do, I don't disagree with you if that is what you are implying.

I don't care how "fun" it may be to some, there's no place for that on TL. Consider this to be a thread-wide warning. Really? Roffles's posted the best post in God knows how many pages and you warn him for it? This modding repulses more people from this thread than pictures of trolls.
Obviously, our opinions of Roffles's post are quite different. However, my opinion is one shared by the people who run this site and is based upon the standards that we try to maintain here. If you think that that post was the best one you've seen in a while, then you should probably go discuss this topic in other forums where that type of posting is allowed or even encouraged (of which there are many), because that's not what we want on TL, even in this thread.
As for repulsing people, I have no problem keeping people who actually would find that type of post to be appropriate away. There are plenty of people who can discuss this topic without resorting to that type of language, including Roffles himself.

What discussion are you after? Acknowledgement that fans can be nutters?
Firstly, duh. Secondly, what do I care about that?

I don't care how "fun" it may be to some, there's no place for that on TL. Consider this to be a thread-wide warning. I've been wanting to say this for a long time and this is perfect timing: The thing is, outside of TL, even if someone says that HyoYeon is an "ugly ho", yeah it's wrong and demeaning. However the general fanbase has every right to be as critical about celebrities in general because the popularity of a celebrity is heavily affected by the fans. It's as if Korean Idols (being specific) signed an unwritten contract in that people can think of them any way they want, whether it be right or wrong (as long as the thoughts aren't about affecting them harshly on a deep personal level, physical or emotional). For example, I THINK its perfectly fair to call HyunAh a cheap slut based upon how she's portrayed through a bulk of her promotional activities. Come on, pelvic thrusting on stage aired on national TV is pretty slutty. However in real life she might be someone completely opposite. But that criticism is fair based upon the image she projects. Thinking of giving the bat to HaRa because she looks like a bitch vs. actually intending to giving the bat to HaRa because you intend to flat out hurt her are different because the first is due to what she projects as a celebrity while the second is blatantly disrespecting her as a human being. What's not fair is banding together to sign suicide petitions for Jay Park because he was having a hard time adjusting to his surroundings. It's not fair to grill Shin SeKyung or Park MinYoung for having a relationship with JongHyun / Lee MinHo and the other way around because the imagination of being a couple with that celebrity is ruined. If I say that Sunny is an annoying bitch because of her artificial aegyo, it's classless sure. But I have every right to think that because I'm the one being entertained, I'm the one that will potentially buy the product because I think they're worthy of my money, time, and thoughts being devoted to be entertained, and basically I'm one of many people who get to determine if they are worth my time paying attention to, negatively or positively. Celebrities are there to entertain, but they don't determine how people end up being entertained by them. Thing is, out of all people I think you should have a pretty good understanding of that. "Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level" It's right there on the top of the page. How is it hard to understand? It's not like I was criticizing Cyric's actions to warn people... especially if you consider the words that are bolded. I mean seriously, you miss the entire point of my post just because of what you read on the top of a page... oh man, it's so hopeless posting something an actual thought on this thread. Since you're so good on following instructions, to reach the bolded part of my post 1. Click on "Show Nested Quote" 2. Then Click on "Show Spoiler" I'm not talking about the moderation. There are obviously rules for the thread, clearly posted up top. Calling people "annoying bitch" and "cheap slut" is just uncalled for. True, except when I did I even mention a significant reference about thread rules in my post? Isn't it obvious that I'm illustrating my own opinion about fan behavior in general, not how this thread is being moderated? If you're trolling by playing dumb then you're only hurting yourself because you're just portraying yourself as someone that can't even recognize the true points of what people are actually trying to convey. Seriously give up now about mentioning rules because it's not helping matters one bit, especially if you're some white knight trying to protect two of the people I used as examples for your favorite K-Pop group.
I think you misread his post this time. I believe he's saying that he's not talking about the moderation, as that's a non-issue in light of the rules posted at the top of the page. He just believes using that type of language or criticizing people to that extent is uncalled for in general. Looks like a simple difference of opinion.

But that does not justify doing so aswell in this thread on teamliquid.net. Also I don't see how saying stuff like "cheap slut" is fun or by any means contributing to anything other than making the recpective idol's fans mad. And I doubt being ugly is part of their "image", they are born that way (possibly modified by ps), so who are you to talk trash about them, fine if you don't like them and say they look ugly, but anything worse than that is just calling for trouble imo.

Yeah that, but more specifically in this thread. I'd like to think we can be more civil than crazy netizen anti-fans, even when we dislike a certain idol/group or find someone trollish, and we can get our points across without being a dick about it.

The overall moderation and tone in this thread has just become ridiculous. For example, say Hyomin tweets a super yeppeo pic, not everyone here may follow her on twitter, but some people may wanna see anyways, so I post it, then I'll get warned for not creating "discussion"? What discussion can you have besides "oh she qt" or "oh she sucks Boram better with proper angle".
I understand Roffles' warning (I thought it was funny but sones like cyric obv don't like anything being said about their perfect hyoyeon), he did come off as a dick, but warning Katsuge for posting a pic and saying "Hot damn". Really? I'll keep in mind to write an essay next time I wanna post a pic of someone.
I don't see why there was a sudden crackdown, the thread always ran on a simple model, someone posts something, some people like it, some don't, then some people get butthurt because of the people that don't. I guess people (especially sones) in this thread get butthurt too easily, which is sad, but I guess its the nature of TL in general over the last few months.

Because what's going on here isn't much different than what would go on in Korea, it's as if people in here are so easily shook, LIKE OMG, YOU CALL HYUNA SLUT, YOU BAD BAD BOY! But specifically any criticism, perceived respectful or disrespectful is fair game, as long as it doesn't cross any obvious and natural barriers.

My problem is I feel that I covered that base
The thing is, outside of TL, even if someone says that HyoYeon is an "ugly ho", yeah it's wrong and demeaning.
If anything I'm trying to present that a right doesn't necessarily equate to whats right or wrong, especially when it comes to fan behavior. I don't care what medium is used for fans to voice their criticisms. It should be a given that rules exist on differing forum boards and etc. Where someone posts doesn't affect a person's thought process about something, since it only affects how the thought is presented.
