Seems like they got pressured, and were already working towards that conclusion since they already agreed to work on the Japanese followup/all Japanese activities, it was only a matter of time, and assuming that article is right and they dropped it without any conditions it seems more like coercion than them getting what they wanted.

And the Kara thing. It sounds like their "agreement" was drop the lawsuit or don't work again. No conditions, no changes to contracts? Sounds like those three girls got hosed.
How is this song great? For me this is easily the worst snsd song ever. Even intel song is better imo. They look ok in the mv but they are far from looking awesome. I am disappointed in this song/mv and I seriously don't know how so many peaople like it. No hate towards snsd but this song is far from good.
