I'm so hyped for their Comeback(fingers crossed) probably late this year or next year with Tukutz ending military services in August 2011 . They still might wait for Mithra though, but that is just August 2012 officially ending their LONG hiatus.
Dude, getting no.1 in korean charts is merely about having the right timing executions, much like terran in starcraft 2. To be precise, releasing songs to get the maximum ranks is done when the groups from the big leagues stop promoting. Once the top idols leave the scene, the artist of the new song compete with a bunch of no-shows which isn't much of a hurdle so long as they produce mainstream genre. This method was popularised by SME a few years ago, when they realised snsd didn't stand a chance against wg.

I am just saying that the Kpop industry changed so much that (Hella lot of)Idols are taking over the charts unlike before when the small amount of Idols stand little chance against true singers. No need to defend KARA, because nothing is wrong with what I said and what happened before.

I thought you were unsatisfied with the ranks.
And since when did true singers ever have superiority over idols?

SNSD didn't stand a chance against Big Bang. and the article states that SNSD got first earlier than WG.

It is not about the ranks. It is all about how easy idols get the top spot and how hard it is for singers recently unlike years ago when singers did have superiority over idols. You should have known this period in Kpop unless you're only 4 y/o or something. I'm not trying to argue with anyone. I just want you to understand my point
of course i remember.those good ol' days. Looking back at those times, its almost hard to believe that hallyu wave had changed into what it is now, it feels like it never happened. Speaking of changes, i wonder what kpop will be like in the next 5~10 years.
What are you all talking about, idols have always had superiority in the rankings against singers since kpop was created. Idols used to be talented and not just pretty faces like nowadays but still they were idols and not singers. Some of them even composed their own songs but these songs were nevertheless bubblegum poppish songs or cheap techno-like songs whose main (and probably only) target was teenagers. There have been several singers featured in kpop music shows for a long time (not anymore I think) and having average to good sales but they've never been in the top of the sales ranks or anything, with only some very specific exceptions like Brown Eyes whose quality+hype+"i'm so good i'm not even doing promotions" have destroyed the charts.
This is pop music, which is all about marketing. ace246 is totally right about what he stated. If you are going to refuse that, please give examples, and good ones.
btw now it is easier for rookies to get to nº1 because there are many companies and groups, and not just your sm jyp yg dst. years ago a group like god would make 1m sales, while now 5 groups get 100k sales each (obviously not occurate, just a broad example)
and please forgive the broken english, I just can't write properly today

you make some very strong statements that i highly disagree with in your first paragraph. "idols have always had superiority in the rankings against singers since kpop was created"??? in what universe are you from?

oh and back in the day it was actually very normal for a ballad singer like Lim Chang Jung to get 1st place on music shows. it was traditionally spring/summer = #1s for tons of idol groups and summer veterans like DJ DOC and Cool, while fall/winter = #1s for all those ballad artists.
