Even if gyuri is the most popular of the group, you can't have a group with just one person and you can't just fill in the void with newcomers. The way i see it, Kara is as good as dead to DSP.

I don't care what they call themselves. I'm somewhat glad that they are leaving the company now. Every group name is trademarked before the groups even debut.

Its been 3 years since kara debuted. The fact that it still hasn't been trademarked to this day is proof that they didn't care so long as kara was with them. This is probably just their little revenge for the members willing to move out.

KARA has brand recognition. It's a good business decision because it doesn't cost them anything, they have a legit claim to it, and it hurts the 4, which helps them should they promote as the same time as a DSP group (only Rainbow at this point)

more info. $3000 each? out of 18 million? For Japanese promotions. I guess they make slightly more for Korean promos, but still...And they haven't been paid for anything other than album sales for japan promotions yet. lol...I know it's similar for all kpop groups but has to be worse than others, B2ST mentioned they make like $8000 per year each, and that's as a rookie group. Apparently Gyuri's mom was the only one who wanted to stay faithful to DSP despite the shitty pay. Basically, the other 4 were bought, contract penalties paid off by some other label, they'd make more money. I say more power to em. Also, legal action by DSP to ensue due to them attempting to sign with someone else+contract terminations. edit- interesting that only Gyuri's mother was quoted for the article. Either they're not bothering to ask about the other 4 or they didn't want to comment.

According to another industry representative, KARA brought in a total of $18 million USD in income from their Japanese promotions, but as of December 2010, the group was only paid $3,000 USD per person. I already knew about the 18M and I knew that the KPop industry was a slave industry but 3k ? ARE U SERIOUS ? GOD DAMN! Imagine what it would be like for them logging on to the Internet after their promotions and finding out they made 18m but only gets 3k ? I would have killed someone.

Although it seems reasonable for parents to be worried when their child's effort is rewarded with only $3000 out of $18 Million. This is starting to have different sides because the KARA members said it was because the company forced them to do things they didn't agree with, but now it's the mothers and issue about money.

It's probably both; the new article seemed to only be able to get DSP's side of the story+ another official statement from the 4's lawyer. Notice only Gyuri's mom was interviewed, not any of the others, so it's hard to tell.

In g.o.d, JYP wanted to force out the rapper in the group, but the members hired an investigator and held a press conference to ensure that their brother stayed. In recent times, when JYP pulled the same stunt, the members of 2PM agreed to kick Jay Park out. Same thing with Shinhwa, SM was considering getting rid of Andy (admittedly, he's pretty useless), but the members chipped in their own money to ensure that he stayed with the group. When they decided to leave, they left as a whole group. None of this nonsense breaking off without telling the others. I can't see Kpop being the same anymore. People say it's just a phase, but this is destroying the industry.
