Isn't it just a harem show? Help us out here, Ecael, Southlight.
I started Gunbuster.
At first I was like "Man, this has just been a shoujo school comedy with mecha. *yawn*"
Then this badass-looking guy appears and is voiced by Wakamoto and I was like "Awwwwwwwwwwwww yeahhhhhhhhh!"
Coachee's lens flare is too good.
Gunbuster starts out kinda slow. But it will pick up, just wait.
I'm loving this more and more with each passing second. It has like this sick 80s synth pop soundtrack. And is kinda cheesy (but I love that). And the mecha seem pretty realistic. It turns me off when the mecha in mecha shows have like two buttons in the cockpit, and nothing else. These mecha are full of buttons and levers and shit.
Edit @ Southlight: So in other words, we need KyoAni to adapt OreTsuba instead?
Just wait till Episode 4. Episode 4 is sooooooooo goooood.

The realism in Gunbuster (super robot stuff aside) is what originally drew me to the series. There are a lot of little details they worked in that I absolutely loved as a sci-fi fan. The one point I always fawn over in these discussions is the use of time dilation in the series. Gainax managed to include it in the story as a legitimate plot point, and I adore them for it.

Let me know if I have this right. So while Noriko, Amaro, and Cochee were gone for like, 10 or so light minutes, approximately 30 months passed by on Earth?
Edit: Oh, six months.
But didn't they say every minute=three months? I'm confused.

Super Robot music is so good. Or rather, anything done by JAM Project is great.
Gunbuster's music is so 80s, its great lol. And they really did a good job with the science part of it. Well, beyond HOMINGGGGUU LASSSSAAA and stuff, which I can easily forgive.
