The Japanese love to use Arc-en-ciel, I don't even know why
In terms of the games, ef part 2 is considered to be a lot better. Though it is pretty funny that Chihiro route wasn't actually completed in the first installment of the game and the anime aired before the second installment, effectively spoiling that whole route. But yeah Yuuko and Mizuki too awesome, rest simply can't compare.

Finished Nanoha A's.
+ Show Spoiler +I liked the movie more, but A's was pretty good. I loved all the human v human fights, but the ones against the animals and stuff were pretty meh. I didn't really like the one against the Book of Darkness thing either. The story wrapped up nicely, and I guess now everyone knows that Nanoha is a mage. It was pretty surreal to see everyone get older in the end too. Nanoha's future hairstyle is pretty meh

Worse is how the hair sits on the scalp, suggesting a very strange shape for the skull, and that's while ignoring the nonexistent jaw that tapers into a pointed chin common in this style, but without the more gradual slope to the ears that the precence of a proper jawline would normally have afforded. And don't get me started on how shapless the face is when viewed from an angle. No suggestion of cheeks, brow, or eye socket. Most likely consistent with the original style.
There is a huge lack of strong male characters nowadays and I don't see that changing. The anime industry seems content with that and it's disappointing.

I'd argue that's the case for most of the worldwide entertainment industry in general, as more things trend toward revolving around femme fatale etc.

I never understood though how Chihiro lost her eye though. Did the car that hit her have spikes on it? I guess it's just suppose to sound cool + Show Spoiler [ef] +Probably the head lights broke and glass got it idk

All ef makes me think of is the fandisc, and how it was a terrible tease to their next VN, which I don't think is out yet. Blargh. :V

I'm reading through Sharin right now, and I keep thinking that KyoAni or something should make an anime. I wonder if they would keep the H-scenes though, or maybe just make something up and have the characters in a more modest relationship.
And Morita is like my hero : /

Muramasa and Hanachirasu (the two Nitro+ bladework VNs), Ecael might correct me later but the main char of Dies Irae seems pretty awesome, etc. there's plenty, the anime industry just seems to prefer girl-centric ones, and I don't really blame them. Femme fatales sell better (see: Majikoi, although the main character did a pretty good job standing tall). Steins;Gate is a VN that was carried by the male protagonist (can see my blog about that) but we assume it's going to be a failure of an anime based on C;G and how hard it'll be to bring the science and dialog to anime form. *shrugs* OreTsuba also had really good main protagonists but it may not work out well. That's just how things go. It's muuuuuuuuch safer to do smoething girl-centric where the content doesn't even have to be that good to attract people.
Also, Sayama from the AHEAD series. Bwahahah.

Is the Steins;Gate VN in English yet?
Edit: OreTsubasa as well?
They sound like they would be really good, and if the adaptations suck I want to actually see how good they truly are.
|
Seeing how even chaos;head got translated I can't imagine that people won't work on Steins;Gate. No idea about OreTsuba.
Honestly what kind of badass do people want anyway? Also, the real badass in bungaku shoujo series is Touko-senpai, always.

I'm not sure if you can help, this was two-three years ago i used to watch this anime show on late night G4 tv... I obviously don't remember the title, but it was about a man that could transform into a demon/beast and his body took on an armor, the biggest physiological change was his right arm, it became unaturally large like a giant fist/hammer, and he primarily used a lightning attack out of that fist. The plot of the story was he was looking for his kidnapped sister. In the final episodes he found his sister but she was possessed and he had to destroy her to set her free. He had a female companion that had rabbit ears or some rabbit trait I believe. I appreciate your time and if you cannot answer my question if you could give me any hints as to where I could ask I would really appreciate it. Thank you

Anime is equal parts art and story-telling. So is manga. These elements are interdependent and may cover for one another's shortcomings to an extent. I thought the original artist's style was absolutely atrocious. I would say the same about Clannad's anime rendition at a glance. Granted, I haven't watched it, but I just can't take these characters seriously when their eyes are untastefully large and their mouths are literally half an inch below their eyelines. You could be right about Konoha. Then again, I don't actually care for the character at all. Just wanted to rant about how fucking strange all the characters look. In another note, Gosick would be decent if it didn't fall into conventional character archetypes so often, if its mysteries didn't fail to be engaging, and especially if Kazuya didn't just run around yelling "EEEEEHHHHHH!?" or "VICTORICAAA!!" all the time in an incredibly annoying voice. And, as always, the female lead has feelings for the male lead despite him having next to no redeeming qualities. /jaded
I slighly disagree. I would say story is a bit more important than art, like a 60/40 ratio. I've seen quite a few anime where the art and animation was nothing to brag about but the story kept me engaged to the point that i didn't care about the art that much.

Also, different mangaka draw different ways. Studios, in turn, usually make a concerted effort to keep true to the mangaka's art style. American comics usually have art that's nothing to write home about. But you'll have hell on your hands trying to animate some of those with vastly different art. Honey and Clover, for instance, I know turned off a lot of people because of the art, but that's just the way the girl draws. Same for Kaiji/Akagi, for whom the mangaka has become quite known for the distinct drawing style of people. You'll see similar artistic styles in stuff like Saraiya Goyou, and some anime that have no base material get pretty experimental (Noein). You can't just come on and bash them because they don't suit your preference, because that's all it is.

@Wala: A guide to using hongfire: 1) Use the search. 2) Cross your fingers and hope to god that the results are actually relevant. Idk, usually i rage too, but for this show i don't, must be the main character and her chibi scenes. Every week I rage about this show and the misunderstandings, but then Sawako goes chibi and I'm over it.
edit: Are you tools done with Sharin yet? I have hardly even touched Clannad because I've already read the manga and seen the anime twice. So, it's a bit over kill at this point, but it's still enjoyable for the other characters that were excluded from the anime.

I finished Sharin several years ago, sup? :D?

Kimi Ni Todoke + Show Spoiler +Ok, okokok, fuck you, Kent. I totally thought Kaze (yeah, I'm gonna shorten it) was going to confess and it was going to be gravy, but NOW it's going to be him TRYING to, but she's going to blow him off because of what that shit Kent said. Man... every week this show wrecks me and makes me angry. Once again. Fuck you, Kent.

I was here waiting for you to post stuff about the ending but you never did. 'Cause I like talking to people about stuff! o/

LoGH 87-88 + Show Spoiler +They keep bringing the idea that Reuental may betray Reinhard. Seriously, if he actually does it, then they wasted the surprise a billion times. I hope he just doesn't.
I wonder how Julian expect to force the Empire to write a constitution... Doesn't sound like the kind of thing Reinhard would like to do. The only person he would trust for good administration is Silverberche, and he's dead. Seeing how overworked Reinhard is, this death is worse than Fahrenheit and Steinmetz combined. He has plenty of awesome generals already.
I have no idea what's gonna happen from now. I hope we get a nice surprise.
