Maybe try Macross. It's a TV series, but great mecha show.

No matter how good the story is, I'd always be distracted by how alien the characters look. Hahah, I never played nor will I probably ever play Clannad because of the art. I also can't play Tsukihime anymore because that has no voices. However, I just accept that there's art that puts me off. *shrugs* It is what it is.

Um.....it was good. + Show Spoiler + But.....wtf? So basically, she shoots this star destroying beam....that somehow doesn't kill Fate-chan.....and then she says "I'm sorry." Am I the only one thinking that these murderous attempts are beyond the stage of apologizing to your opponent? I also felt Nanoha's voice got a bit too high pitched and her repeated use of "Fate-chan" and sighs and laughs were sort of awkwardly timed and weird. Plot twist was good though. I'll give it that.

+ Show Spoiler [not that I think it's too necess…] + The scene in episode 4 when Reinhard and Siegfried find Annerose has been sold was very powerful. I thought they pulled it of quite well.

I thought they pulled it of quite well. + Show Spoiler + LoGH only gets better IMO. The show is broken up into 4 seasons, each one being about 25 episodes. Just wait till you get to the climax of Season 2 and Season 3... SOOOO good. Also, there are ALOT of names and characters in this show, so don't worry if you start to feel overwhelmed by it. Eventually, you learn who everyone is, since almost everyone the show thinks is worthy of a name, has some sort of significance to them.

The fanbase calls Nanoha whacking someone with a giant pink beam "befriending" for the reason you pointed out.

Yeah, I realized pretty damn quickly it was gonna be one of those ones with a massive cast list. I read a lot of books with massive cast lists as well (you know, like, 1200 pages with 5 pages of important characters, etc. and that is only 1 book out of the series...) so I'm used to learning the names of a retarded number of characters. But yeah.. Anime 'better' or on the same level as Death Note IE is a mature anime without the countless annoying girls that plague a lot of anime out there. Death note is also very intellectual and the plot is extremely well thought out, which is also a huge huge huge huge plus for me

![]() Also, Death Note is hardly an intellectual anime, nor all that intelligent of one :/ I mean, it's more intelligent than most stuff, but that's a really low bar. I guess I recommend Monster if you're looking for a similar anime that's more realistic. If you actually want an intelligent intellectual anime watch Serial Experiments Lain or something. Edit - Wow, that Asuka fanart is absolutely amazing. I guess I'll post a madoka image (spoiler for those who haven't seen the show):+ Show Spoiler +
