I guess I recommend Monster if you're looking for a similar anime that's more realistic. If you actually want an intelligent intellectual anime watch Serial Experiments Lain or something. Edit - Wow, that Asuka fanart is absolutely amazing. I guess I'll post a madoka image (spoiler for those who haven't seen the show):+ Show Spoiler + Hahaha, that madoka image is awesome!

Take Railgun for example: the level upper arc was pretty good, but then there was a crapton of filler because the manga hadn't finished the sisters arc. In comparison, LoGH had 10 episodes and had very little in terms of filler simply because the novels were done long before the anime ever came into existence. I find it odd that you mentioned Samurai Champloo though. More than half the episodes didn't really contribute to the main storyline and were essentially filler.

I was more talking about FMAB. Theres not a lot of filler, although the story is a bit slow at times. A lot of story content in it and only 63 episodes. Definitely the most gripping anime ive watched, but I havent watched all that many.

The original FMA anime (2003) basically followed the manga, up until the point where it caught up. After it caught up the the manga, it essentially went off in its own direction with German zeppelins bombing London in WWI and other lol material. FMA:B (2009) was however made to end at the very same time as the manga. Basically, since FMA:B never "caught up" to the manga until the very last episode essentially (at which point the manga ended as well), there was never any need for filler.

Yea, which makes for a better anime. They should all just wait for the manga to finish, unless its an ongoing story of course.

+ Show Spoiler + Lol. Reinhard wants to marry Mariendorf out of guilt. So hilariously awkward, just like Yang. I really doubt Reuental is gonna betray him. There's just way too much foreshadowing. It won't happen. I'm sure of it. Julian + Karin is a very boring subplot. I don't like Julian and I don't like Karin either. I guess I'll get used to it. I want more Oberstein damnit. He's not stupid enough to let Reuental betray Reinhard. He's probably the smartest character in the show at the strategical/political level and I want to know what the hell he thinks. You're not part of the 3 Imperial Admirals for nothing! We got spoiled that Mecklinger is gonna... live. Cool. I wonder if we can deduce anything out of it...
