So I just finished watching LoGH. It took me roughly 3 weeks to watch the 110 episodes (yeah, i know ...). I was really amazed by the depth of the story. A lot of characters, a lot of main characters, and there's been a lot of description on all of them. IT's really awesome, they really took the time to build them. Same goes for the story. There wasn't a single time where I could have predicted what will happen. Even when I was sure of something, something else happened. + Show Spoiler [dont read if you havent finished watch…] +The death of Yang Wenli really caught me offguard for instance when i was more or less sure he would be saved (by Julian most likely). I kinda refused to believe it and even thought it was Julian having a nightmare or something. But then I think it was Attenborough who said "this isn't a third rate anime, the dead don't come back", I laughed. Anyway yeah, I realllly enjoyed watching it and even if it's kinda long, it's NEVER boring. One of the best animes I've ever watched.

+ Show Spoiler [Nanoha the Movie 1st] +First, my complaints. There were a few things unexplained that are really bothering me about this. Keep in mind that I haven't seen the TV series, so I don't know if this was explained in the show. In that initial scene where Yuuno got his ass kicked, he turned into a ferret afterwards. I'm assuming because he was out of energy or something. He stays in that form until they board Arthras, then when asked, turns into his humanoid form, and proceeds to fight every battle in that form from then on. Wtf? I thought he was stuck in the ferret form. Why didn't he change for the other battles? >.> Once on Arthras, they enter the captain's room. And she's sitting on a mat, drinking tea or whatever, in a room with cherry blossom trees and an artificial waterfall. They're from a different planet right? Why do they have a Japanese culture? @_@ That aside, it was overall really well done, considering they had to take a 20+ episode TV series and turn it into a two hour movie. The visuals were beautiful, the fight scenes were nicely animated, and the overall plot wasn't bad. That scene at the end when Nanoha and Fate trade ribbons had me bawwwing ;_; Btw, where do they get the lyrical for the title? I don't really understand. And now, for similar character designs! We have Nanoha's friend, Tsukimura Suzuka, who looks almost the same as Daidouji Tomoyo (Cardcaptor Sakura), except for a minor change in hairstyle. ![[image loading]](http://cdn.myanimelist.net/images/characters/7/55687.jpg)

I've never seen Clannad: After Story, but people claim that one is sad... But there is no way that can even come close. Watching Yang bleed to death was like watching a long time friend die. We saw him rise through the ranks, we saw his victories, we saw his love for Jessica, we saw him try to raise Julian as best he could, we really felt for him when Jessica died. We were with him all during his struggles against the Alliance Government. We even attended his wedding. And finally, after many hard fought battles, Yang finally achieves what he set out for, a chance for peace. And then... He dies... Our friend for 82 episodes that we had all come to like and relate to, was gone. No anime even comes close to the emotion from that event.

+ Show Spoiler [Nanoha Movie] +Because Yuuno is comfortable in both forms he just forgot about shapeshifting, I guess. He is more useful in his humanoid form for combat, but he is still a pure defensive/barrier/healing mage, so even that usefulness is limited in direct conflict.
There are other mages that come from Earth, even though she is from a different world, some culture has spread around. You could say she got the basic idea from a movie or something, but implemented it in her own way. That's why Nanoha is so shocked when she sees her putting sugar into her tea for example.
It's only 13 episodes for the first two seasons but apart from that you are right.
Lyrical was Nanoha's incantation for her spells, a concept that was basically dropped from the show after episode 2 or something.
Edit: Well there are incantations later on, but they are nothing like "Lyrical Magical". Fate uses one for Phalanx Shift and of course the badass incantation(s) used at the end of A's by a certain something.

At Nanoha's age, you can't really just bring a random boy home (well okay, it happens a lot in other shows, but still). He can still cast spells and whatnot in ferret form, so it's no big deal.
Edit: Oh yeah, he also gets petted by girls when he's a ferret.
@Timeout: Didn't Yuno use forced teleportation in ferret form? I'd argue that he's just as good in either form.
Magical lyrical are Nanoha's magic words or something that increase her powers or whatever. I can't really remember. Anyway, I think she says the words a total of once in the entire series.

I guess not. They should have explained it in the movie though. Oh well. Thanks for clarifying that.

The movie was about a billion times better than the season 1. The movie took everything that was good about Season 1 and made it better, and then removed all the boring shit.

I wonder how they plan to improve on A's with the second movie. Too bad that it is still 2 years until we get the BD release. :/

What about season 2? Should I wait for the movie for that?
Edit: Did anyone else notice that Flash or something was the pilot of that ship? That chick had amazing APM.

Season 2 (A's) was the best season. I have very high hopes for the 2nd Movie, considering how good the 1st Movie was. My thinking is, if they can make a movie that good out of the worst of the seasons, just imagine what they could do with the best season! But then again, A's is very good and I'd recommend you watch it anyway, since the 2nd Movie won't be out for over a year.

You know my opinion already. You shouldn't wait for the second movie, because A's is really good. It is fairly old and a TV series, so don't expect the same art and production quality as in the movie, but the fights and the story are great.
It also introduces my second favorite character in the franchise (and a lot of other good ones).

Yeah, the movie's visuals and sound were top tier. I wish I could have seen it at the theater.

Yeah, A's is legitimately good. I don't know how they're going to do the movies though. From what I remember, there wasn't a lot of useless boring crap in the middle, so either the movie will be really long, or they'll have to find some clever way to cut stuff. I'm looking forward to the improved effects though.
I'm still conflicted on whether I should watch Strikers or not.

StrikerS has its good scenes, but it should have been a 13 episode season like A's. Since it isn't, quite a few parts feel drawn out, especially since you don't get much more character development compared to the shorter seasons.
I still encourage people who enjoyed Nanoha and A's to watch StrikerS, because it is a good sequel. It is just not as good as A's. On the upside, the good scenes and battles are really good. On the downside you have random time-wasting scenes and training montages and all that boring stuff that they managed to avoid during the other seasons.

Strikers had by far the best setting, its just that it had pacing problems due to being 25ish episodes rather than 13. But it had some really badass moments.
I think one reason some Nanoha fans don't like it, is because the 3 heroines in the show grow up into women, and they are like "BAWWW NO MORE LOLI"
Nanoha and Fate's epic moments in Strikers were so good too, lol + Show Spoiler +http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtLtIPJYHx8
