It seemed like it was going to be a great anime until + Show Spoiler +
it got to the ending. I don't think it will recover from losing the best part about the show, and the shift in tone came out of no where. I was expecting the guy who literally was a doctor to do something and save her, especially after the growth she had at the end, then it'd become a crazy "whodonit" with the protag being severely limited due to them being like 4. But nope, guy does nothing, then timeskip 12 years into the future.
I'll still watch the next episode, but I'm anticipating the quality is about to fall off a cliff.

I do hope Hell's Paradise is going to pick up sometime soon. Right now the plot is kinda weak, we have standard run-of-the-mill OP protag, other characters are not that great either. The monster design is not up my alley, they look weird but ultimately more funny/ridiculous than scary (similarly to Attack on Titan). For me this show doesn't have that much to offer at the moment.
My Home Hero is getting better though, basically anime version of Breaking Bad.
Gundam is also getting more into its stride with heart-gripping drama.
Biggest surprise for me right now is Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion. Strong Agata Christie vibes and has me genuinely interested in how it'll play out.
Speaking of Gundam, this ending song is just amazing:
Mileage for Raeliana depends on how much of this archetype you've consumed before. 10 manga volumes in nothing has really progressed and the hero is still a 2cool4skool douche.
I had to think long and hard about why Spy Classroom anime sucked so much and I feel like it's because 99% of anime action scenes are garbage af and it obliterated the tone and mood of the series. A bit interesting how much bad visual representation negatively affects everything.

I'm not a manga reader. Gonna see what they do with the anime, for now I don't really mind the slow burn and if they fit some more intrigue/politics into it I won't mind either. For quick resolution in similar fashion there's always this one reborn as a villainess show where they basically fit a season's worth of plot into like 3-4 episodes so the first season alone felt like 3

Hells Paradise has this really weird pacing problem where it keeps jumping back and forth in time, in different people's perspectives, while ultimately showing us nothing that we care about. The first two episodes were solid, but this last one was garbage. A bunch of background on people that we literally haven't even properly met yet.

It's not so much manga so much as the ol' girl fucked over by family/happenstance meets super rich/powerful man of mystery and slowly resolves the issues with her/his life/kingdom has been the FOTM in Japanese light novels and web novels for the last 3-4 years.

This show is kinda crazy. It’s like instead of the power of friendship they talk about about the POWER OF SCIENCE.
Its also kinda funny because when I first heard of this show, I was like, the bad guy seemed like a heartless killer, but now I’m like thinking “this guy hates capitalism so much he’s not takin any chances of it bringing it back”.
I am getting more and more disappointed with Hell's Paradise. 5 episodes in and nothing really happened. All we're getting is more flashbacks and backstories of side characters I'm not interested in. The plot hasn't really moved an inch since episode 2.
Edit: Just checked and this season will be only 13 episodes. Almost halfway there and it still feels like all that has happened so far could be wrapped up within 1-2 episodes... I really don't get people gushing over this show so much and most of the comments over on CR being "10/10 bestest series ever, best episode so far."
Yeah I'm starting to agree with you guys, Hell's Paradise doesn't need half of every episode to be boring back story, that's not why we are watching it. We want to shit go down.

I haven't read the source material for HP so I can't really tell if it's the fault of bad writing or bad adaptation/editing. In any case this is just atrocious way of doing things: something bad is about to happen to this character you see for the first time and you should care because - insert lengthy backstory. This simply isn't the way to develop an emotional connection to the character, not to mention how bad it is for the overall pacing of the story.
Finished Dr. Stone S1, I felt like it dragged on for the earlier village episodes but it was quite enjoyable nontheless. I kinda wish that they explored culture/anthropology to humble Senku more. But whatever the author seems to want to explore other themes.
I'm kinda SHOCKED how his best friend and his best friend's crush was completely written out of the show for like 90% of the season.
Gonna watch Gundam Witch Mercury next. My first gundam show since Wing in the aughts.

If you're a Gundam fan you'll love it. Just need to bear with it for a bit because the buildup is a bit slow and it doesn't feel like a Gundam show in the beginning (but then it's Gundam and some).
Watched 13 episodes of "YU-NO: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of this World" this week and I'm really surprised. It's basically a better version of Re: Zero, where the protag is an asshole but not that obnoxious, actually uses his brain and isn't a virgin so doesn't go haywire around girls. Pretty decent show overall so far, details matter, setups have payoffs and ecchi elements aren't as bad as I thought they'd be.
Edit: Finished it and it was a pretty wild ride in the second half. Everything got connected nicely and was quite interesting.
