08. Barbarian On The Groove — 空が落ちる -instrumental- www.astronotes.jp 8th track.
Also what genre of music is this?
It's the ending theme for G-Senjou no Maou according to quick Google search. As far as music genre goes it seems like a blend of progressive rock and jazz (I think it's called Jazz Rock or Fusion).
If you like songs like that and would like to discover more similar things from all across the world I suggest this channel: https://www.youtube.com/@kexp
After 8 episodes of Hikari no Ou this is still by far the best show to watch this season imho. So underrated.
I've also watched the last couple of episodes of Zhongguo Qi Tan just now and it was ok overall. The quality of the stories varies massively. Especially episodes 6 and 8 are super weak but 2, 5 and 7 are great.
Something about those facial expressions tells me it likely will be edgy to the point of being cringy. Does anybody know the source material? I will probably still check it out though.

The story is decent, and the world is fascinating. The characters aren't particularly noteworthy, but they serve their purposes. But the animation is rough. It's heavily stylized to make up for the lack of budget, but most of the time it's just straight up bad, particularly in action scenes. Unfortunate.
I really hope they can nail the landing. Mystery box stories like these have a tendency of falling flat. This is definitely my sleeper pick for the season though.

I kind of agree with most of what they're saying. This series fell off hard for me really fast and I don't think I even got through season 2 or 3. Doesn't have much going for it IMO.

I agree, the animation is really rough. Not sure if it's budget, time restraints or lack of manpower but they have to rely on a whole bunch of tricks. It's such a shame. I also agree with your take on the characters, it's not a character driven show for once. I personally enjoy that. What I'm most impressed with though is the presentation. How the story is presented, scenes are arranged and the soundtrack is fantastic. We will see about the ending. Could someone explain to me the hype behind Re: Zero? Everywhere I look I see people toting it as the pinnacle of isekai and gushing over how great it is. When I watched it I found the MC to be dumb and insufferable and it was hard for me to even get through the series. I didn't really find anything outstanding in it and the amount of "plot convenience" that's happening was also staggering.

You are not alone. The MC is insufferable indeed and the plot and characters are weak at best. After a few years of forcing myself through the current hype shows to see what the hype is about I realised that the hype is a clear indicator for me to stay away from the show unless I want to suffer just as much as the MC in Reero.
//oh yeah, I forgot TL puts the zzz smiley into Reero...

I kinda get it when people call him annoying and he does a lot of dumb sh*t but at the same time I think he's one of the most realistic MCs out there. I mean if you compare him to someone like Leleouch from CG and think about all the trauma they both go through. I think I would act similar to how Subaru does.
Idk if Lelouch is the best comparison but you probably get the point.

I absolutely loathe MCs that try to force their point of view onto others and also go about life thinking that if you try long and hard enough at the same thing everything will work out in the end. It's so god damn annoying...
It was insufferable really, all those situations where he was completely oblivious of his surroundings and just forcibly trying to do his own thing regardless of other's feelings or views. A lot of the drama could be avoided if he simply bothered to ask before acting. And I'm not talking about asking for some obscure info, you'd think that if you found yourself in another world and are going to attend some ceremony it would be prudent to ask what is this ceremony about and what to expect there instead of blindly barging into it, breaking protocol and angering people left and right and then getting yourself into way more trouble than you were in before. This goes for almost every bad situation the MC finds himself in, most of it could be avoided easily if he just bothered to stop for a moment to just look around and ask to get himself more familiar with his surroundings. He's dumb, he's obnoxious, I have 0 sympathy for the guy and can't relate to him at all.
But that's literally the point of his character arc? He goes from a completely dumb obnoxious petulant child to slowly realizing how his actions effect other people. He's a child shut in who gets transported to another dimension and can timeloop exclusively on death and he can't tell a soul about it. The entire reason the second season finishes is because he's grown as a person and through his own failures knows how his actions effect those around him, how to succeed and to get people to support him.
Now I agree that its probably a bad premise to make your MC as obnoxious, petulant, and generally unlikeable to the extent that Subaru is in the beginning, but at least that's kind of the point of his character.

It would be fine if it wouldn't take him 2 full seasons to make the basic realizations. And in the beginning it wasn't even that bad, it got progressively worse until a few final episodes of second season. Flawed characters are fine as long as the plot makes them grow somehow and not regress (Rent A Girlfriend has the exact same problem).

Yeah I can definitely see why people would say it takes too long for Subaru to not be unlikeable. I think for me it happened at a steady enough pace that I really enjoyed the world and the characters around him.
But don't get me started on Rent A Girlfriend. It triggers me too hard lmao, dude seriously gave Kazuya some fantastic character progression then said fuck it and went right back to 0 (or even worse than 0). Although I will say I've been pleasantly surprised by this move in together arc. Hasn't had a bad chapter yet and that's saying something for 2 months of KanoKari.

Well it's a cliffhanger. I figured it was coming but it still stings a bit. S2 is confirmed at least.

Right, I saw MAL put it at /10 episodes a few days ago and thought no way they are going to finish the story. With a second season it makes more sense. Though I really dislike cliffhangers, even more so at the end of a season...
