Had a really hard time remembering their names, and who these people are and why they are on a boat, even if I can remember the general jist and plothook of the points based system. I remember being wierded out by the schoolkid that looks like a grown adult. Really don't like how implied physical force is such a major factor in the anime. it makes no sense in what is supposed to be a tight rules based school order, yet there's so much implicit physical force, what with people taking pictures of people without permission, only able to do so because the guy looks several years older complete with physically large bodyguards. Can't remember why the guy even has goons; something about a debt? Surely in such a high competition system with so much at stake and lax enforcement, the school would just descend into casual violence repeatedly as use of physical force is not punished. Some interesting new animes so far, but hard to tell if they will remain interesting or collapse under their own poor world building and contradictions. Physical force is punished. There was an episode that dealt with that specifically (at least on school grounds. Things got gray when they were in the jungle.) The big black dude as his bodyguard was something like a debt (saved his life? Don't remember). There are a lot of people in the show that look to be repeaters of years since they look so much older. But maybe it's just they're way of saying "Hey, these people are at the top of the food chain!"

From what I can gather it exists in manga form(3 books) and a novel called Three Days of Happiness I checked online to try and find the manga versions but I can only find Japanese language ones but I came across some "self print", what's that? Can I still get that somehow? I'd prefer the manga versions but maybe I should just get the novel?

I also started xxxHolic and while it's not entirely my cup of tea, it's actually really good imho. Watanuki can be quite annoying but Yuuko is great. What I like is that this show, while heavily borrowing from japanese folklore and anime clichés, still has a unique flair to it. It's definitely different in the way it presents itself and the issues it deals with.

It's all about clichés.. And the fact that all three main characters are factually the same age (teenagers) makes the show just weird. I think Loid is in his early-midst twenties, which roughly checks out with his backstory, Yor is roughly the same age or a bit younger and Anya is 6 according to her forged papers and that roughly checks out with her behavior. The whole thing doesn't really make sense if Anya is the same age because she definitely acts like a 6 year old and was in an orphanage. I think the manga is fun but a bit overrated. The fictional cold war is a fun setting for Mr and Mrs Smith, I like Yor and Anya and don't mind Loid, but like you say it's mostly a love letter to spy series covering a lot of clichés to make fun but predictable stories with.

Tbf, I was talking about how they act. Yeah, they are presented as the ages you stated but they all act like teenagers.

Though I continually find it so wierd there are clearly adults in a young teen class. Surely there will be no repeaters in a supposedly elite school? I find it so wierd that people are able to take pictures (twice!) of people without permission, without any repercussion whatsoever, when everything they do seem to otherwise be measured. You know these pictures will be an important plot point later.Physical force is punished. There was an episode that dealt with that specifically (at least on school grounds. I realize that the show isn't to your liking and it's true that there are lots of cliches, but I don't feel this statement is factually true. Loid is certainly more mature than either of the other two, and Anya does display a lot of child-like tendences. The only person that hits the teenager level is Yor imo. You can say that they act strange at times and no one questions it (+ Show Spoiler + yor accepting loid's assertion that his patients are shooting him is normal for ex

that the new manager's power isn't a star sense, its a lie detector. So instead of seeing Kyouka and Rio as talented, they're seen as liars who are hiding some parts of themselves from the group Its not the best thing going this season, that's Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting or Love Live Superstar Season 2 in my (very very early) book, but its in my top three right now. On the contrary, Bucchigire has been by far the most disappointing thing on this season.

I'm currently eyeing up Lycoris Recoil, which seems to be the type of internally inconsistent anime I would normally hate, but the animation is smooth and the main character just makes the most excellent facial expressions. Also Isekai Oji-san which I almost refused to watch on account of its name. The characters are ugly and badly drawn, the animation almost non-existant, the joke execution can be excessively drawn out, but the idea of the anime is novel and the humour from mismatched expectations is genuinely funny.

Have to make time to watch the Made in Abyss movie which I downloaded ages ago but somehow forgot to watch, before I can start on the new season. Same here... Gonna watch the movie in the upcoming days with a friend. Although I had planned to watch the second season only once it has finished anyways.

Lycoris Recoil is a pretty good one so far. MC is a beast. The other one...irritates me at the moment. Yakuza Guide to Babysitting is pretty good. Wasn't on my radar but kinda glad I picked it up. This season, outside of the sequels etc is pretty meh. There's maybe 2-3 that are new that I'll watch.

Another thing that starts of nice is Call of the Night. It has kinda atypical music in it too and I really like that (not a fan of anime op/ed music usually).

There's so much isekai that this season is almost unbearable to watch.

There's just nothing that catches my attention from the thumbnails of the artwork. It all looks really derivative and boring sadly. The Dr Stone Ryusui movie was good. The upcoming season for that is going to be amazing. I hope they animate the Boichi piece at some point. It should be pretty amazing. If anyone has been keeping up with OPM manga, they really need to get a better studio than the last one they used. The next 2 arcs deserve better work than 7DS.

I will admit not everything that I'm watching is amazing, and if they weren't so spread a part that its mostly 20-40 minutes of my life a day I'd probably watch at least one less, but there isn't an isekai in sight. I honestly didn't even know there were that many outside of Isekai Uncle and the second skill one. Overlord is completely off my radar because it premiered before I watched a ton of anime and 3 full seasons is a big ask. Also if you count Digimon as an isekai by default than I suppose a I AM watching one. But I don't think it would be fair to call this season one. Everything I'm watching, in roughly the order I enjoy them. + Show Spoiler + The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting Love Live! Superstar!! Season 2 Shine Post Lycoris Recoil Classroom of the Elite Season 2 My Stepmom's Daughter is my Ex Engage Kiss Phantom of the Idol Call of the Night Rent a Girlfriend Season 2 A Couple of Cuckoos Cour 2 Digimon Ghost Game Shine On! Bakumatsu Bad Boys Call of the Night continues to impress and almost make up for the fact that I spent most of the first episode being creeped out at the teetering line of whether this was an ancient vampire exploiting a kid or two kids where one happens to be a vampire. You should feel bad, Second, the only shows you "spoilered" are classroom, engage, and lyrcoris. The rest are trash (I gave a shoutout to Yakuza so it's cool). Everything else is just straight booty man. BOOTY!
