What are your thoughts on the characters? Think that was one of the best parts of the show.

I'm not a stickler but the early parts (1-10) were really slideshowy. Extended periods of face shots or poses that didn't do anything. Just static images really.
I'm at them trying to get to the base. The 4-5 main baddies came down so it's been pretty exciting. Osamu is as lame as they come imo. There's not a lot of growth there. Same with Chika. I'm on Ep 32. Almost everyone else except those two has had some dramatic growth so that is good to see and is basically what kept me watching.

Unfortunately the animation never gets particularly good throughout the first season. Toei really did the series dirty. They seem to have rectified that with the currently airing season, which looks pretty great so far (granted only one episode has aired.)

7DS might be another season pass for me. Like last season, some really great battles are about to take place and I just know they'll fuck it up. I'll wait for the season to wrap and follow the memes as to whether it's worth the time or not.
Hortensia Saga might be interesting to watch. One more episode for the rule, but who knows. Back Arrow is another that seems to be comedic and action, so I'll give that 2 more episodes as well. Slime is back as well. Auto watch for me.

Osamu does improve later, but don't want to say much to spoil things. + Show Spoiler +I'm not sure how his improvements are much later than the first season since I don't read the source, but + Show Spoiler +I get the impression that he'll never get to say Kazama level but will just be more solid all around and a good asset to the team. Chika improves too, but again, won't say more. There's a fair bit of episodes left and you haven't gotten to the rank wars yet so look forward to those because between the current arc you were on and this arc, it's a lot of fun to watch.
Yes, a lot of others have dramatic growth which is great.

I've caught completely up. There's a lot of stuff I don't like but it's a personal taste thing. Like, it tried to be HxH and failed in that aspect imo. There are definitely a lot of other anime that do a better job, but they are consistent with their world building. I'll probably wait for this season to be over to watch it though. It's not a weekly must watch for me.

Ya, that's understandable. There are some things that could've been better. I ended up enjoying the storyline and really liked all the characters so I don't mind giving my opinion on it. The second season picks up right where the first ended and it seems crazy to think that a sequel was actually released 6-7 years later (didn't think we'd get one, but here we are! :D).

Reminds me of HxH again lol. Like, will it ever finish and will we ever get a proper sequel? I like most of the characters in WT, just not a big fan of Chika and Osamu but they are growing, so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

My wife refuses to read any of the post-anime HxH manga because in her eyes, until Togashi actually dies, he could always start writing again and finish up a major arc.
