Miyamori's char (and some side chars) stories werent very relatable to me back then. And I always just enjoyed the show for its ability to showcase how shitty anime production can be but present it in a lighthearted way. But the character development just resonates with me on a deeper note this time around. If anything, the Ema dance and Miya gao alone are worthy to rewatch the show.

Some people are recommending him Dragonball Z and fan service stuff, that feels very... off given what he's said he's liked. Good people of this thread, what would you recommend to Jim Belushi if he said he liked the Ghibli movies and recently saw Your Name and loved it? I recommended Anohana, and A Silent Voice, since they're both a lil romantic, and dramatic, weren't too long, weren't too weird, and made me cry when I was binging my sad rom coms for like two weeks. School Days never fails as a good recommendation

I wish the manga wasn't rushed and treated like it was. The fights are legendary and the whole overarching plot is just insane. This ranks as my top 5 favorite series easy.

Dunno if it'll be a full blown route, but I assume she'll get something, considering all the memes over the last twenty years. I wouldn't be shocked if they kept it under wraps, given its status.

Norman being Isabella's son Spoilers for Season 1 of Promised Neverland below. + Show Spoiler + So, Ray is Isabella's son, and it seems that smart are eaten/killed or become Moms (males at least get their sperm taken or something). So it seems that the smart people reproduce so that they can have more smart people, and hopefully find smarter/tastier combinations of genes. Therefore they want a variety of genes to produce new smart people with different attributes. However, they also want a consistent source of people who are smart enough. So, they have some set genetic combinations that they know will consistently produce smart people, and both these types are present in the population at the same; the experimental people and the people who they know will turn out smart. How does this apply to the central characters? Well, I would say that Ray is obviously an experiment since we know Isabella is his mother. In contrast, Emma and Norman are people who they know are going to be smart. In the other words people with their exact same genes have been produced before and will be produced in the future. In fact people with exactly the same genes may exist at the same time in the same house; ![]() See the fist two kids to the left of Isabella? Remind you of anyone? I mean at least the hair is the same. Sorry if that stuff in the spoilers doesn't make any sense. I feel like there was a way simpler way to say what I wanted to say, but I just couldn't get to it.

I was more or less "its decent but the humor is hit or miss" until a ways in when it hooked me with its more serious arcs and some genuinely funny moments.

The humor is/was topical for the time, so it'll be hard for anyone to get it. I sure didn't but it didn't stop me from watching the show. Just have to grind it out. I'd say if S1 is too slow or not your thing, go ahead and watch the 1st movie (Benizakura) to get pretty much up to date. You can jump over to S2 and be just fine. Below is a link where you can see how long seasons are for Gintama. It ran like the old Big 3 (continuously) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Gintama_episodes

Good and varied cast with lots of personality and characters that grow with the show as well. Plus you get background info on the world and it seems pretty vast. Only thing is that one of the main characters always has the same reaction throughout the show, but it's fine too lol.

I'm trying to compare the main chara to another anime based on his uselessness starting out (and so far) but I can't think of anything. It's basically a slideshow for the most part in the animation until it gets further in. Almost dropped it but just hitting next. It got better but still...not the best animation.
