If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

I've only watched the first and second. They were good for a one-time thing. Funny in the absurdity.

I haven't had much to watch recently (onlyl Tower of God and Gleipnir), so I've been digging through lists randomly clicking on series to see if they are any good and I found Narutaru: Mukuro Naru Hoshi Tama Taru Ko. Only 3 episodes in so far (it's 13 total I think) but it's pretty interesting so far.

Sort of urban fantasy, like something between Dennou Coil and Noein.

Dorohedoro has some supremely likable characters imo. Was one of my favorite binges this year, I even read all of the manga immediately after and boy is it a wild ride.

The Great Pretender and Listeners are really good series. Both have great music and very likeable characters. I think those are solid watches.

I asked myself the same question recently and started watching a month ago. I‘m currently at episode 27 of diamond is unbreakable. You should give it a try imo and watch at least the first half of season one to see if it suits you

It's worth it if you want to understand jojo memes. Like much of entertainment, it's primarily interesting so you can talk about it.

Latest episode of Kaguga-sama was really good. The quality is always high and the referencing was just oh so great. Hope they keep it up!

Kaguya-sama is one of those few anime that make me consistently laugh. I think S2 might be even better than S1. It's the show I look forward to the most every week.

Does anyone else try to say "X no haiboku" with the correct X at the same time as the narrator? :D

Yes, it's one of my favourite shows this season and one of the best romantic comedies in recent years too.

Watched the final episode of Wave, Listen to me (Nami yo Kiitekure) and absolutely loved it. It the story of a (mid-twenties?) woman working in a dead-end restaurant job who gets found through her boiterous and charismatic nature (and by happenstance) by radio director, starting her radio career doing weird late-night dramas. It's slice of life with a bit of comedy, and it's probably the most "real" anime I've seen in a long while. Characters are likable but flawed, conflicts are sometimes silly when they revolve around the main character's hyjinxs, but sometimes poingnant when they revolve around life expectations, aspirations, money, love, etc. It's a seinen show worth watching.

Honestly I thought Nami yo Kiitekure was pretty average if not mediocre. I think it might scratch the seinen itch if you're really asking for it and have exhausted a number of popular options, but I found it to be kind of all over the place, doesn't really stick to one particular topic really well, isn't even about the radio show despite it being the major part of the synopsis, and all in all the pacing is just a bit too shoddy and poor. Maybe the manga does it better, but I think the show is just too unorganized and disparate to warrant a comfortable recommendation from me.

I really enjoyed some of the Stdio Ghibli films when they came to Netflix.
Particularly Spirited Away and Howls Moving Castle.

Are there any series on Netflix UK that I might enjoy as a result?

Season's basically over.

Railgun is all action, so their schedule totally went to shit. Can't blame 'em.

Yesterday wo Uttate was a typical drama. Though the characters are frustrating, at the very least it wasn't overtly rage-inducing like Kimi ga Nozomu Eien. So that's something.

Tower of God kinda blew. Part 1 of the manhwa is carried by the characters, and they were good in the anime too. The fights were pretty uninteresting though, and I think they really dropped the ball at the ending.

I liked Kakushigoto a lot, but it lacks the walls of text from the author. It's honestly impressive how long Kumeta's lasted in the industry. He's been around for a good 30ish years at this point despite being relatively niche, and even got three series adapted into anime. Not bad at all.

Bookworm was fine, but life in the church lacks the charm that life with her family had.

The only thing Hamefura needed to do was avoid being overly serious and they screwed that up in the final few episodes.

Kaguya's still pretty good, though I kinda prefer s1 more.

That's honestly not too helpful since nobody really does Ghibli like Ghibli. Maybe Mamoru Hosoda's stuff? It's vaguely Ghibli-like. Hard to say without knowing what Netflix UK actually has.

I wasn't a fan of how Yesterday no Uttate ended. It felt like the show was leaning in one direction only to do a total reverse right before the end and feed us some bullshit. You can point to some instances I'm sure and say "this shows otherwise", but I just didn't feel it when I was watching.

Tower of God imo was great. I haven't read the manhwa in years and never got this far. Maybe things were much better in the source, but the fights seemed good enough from my perspective? Did they cut a lot of stuff out? Why do you believe they were uninteresting?

I also liked Kakushigoto. I think the approach that the anime went with was great and kept your interest going. I would highly recommend it to anyone who's interested in this type of anime. That's quite the wall of text that he wrote... Pretty sad in a way.

Book worm: I think the first season was pretty slow and only gained speed halfway through, but it did have its own charm. What I liked about the second season is that there's this whole world that's opened up and they did enough to get you interested to see how things progress. I would have liked to see her family more too, but things went the way I thought they would and was surprised at the last 2 episodes and how they progressed.

Arte: ending was somewhat predictable. A nice calming show imo and would recommend for anyone who's interested.
