The other thing I watched last week was Kakegurui. A bit trashy but surprisingly fun. Hearing Hayamin do fake orgasm noises can't possibly be bad. It ended really weirdly. Is it another big advert? Think out of the three I enjoyed Samurai Seven the most but Kakegurui had that guilty pleasure vibe to it.

I can only hope they kill off these two new leads and get back to focusing on the siblings. Have some actual growth again and stop wasting time with these boring ass characters. Shounens are awful at this. Look at something reasonably good like Boku no Hero. Even it has discarded most of it's supporting cast and all the female leads to focus on the small group of male leads. It then keeps throwing in new characters constantly developing them while ignoring the old supporting cast. Really frustrating how badly these stories progress. It happens so often it's hard to say it's a coincidence.

I tried to be optimistic but it is not a good one for me. Just watched the last couple of episodes and now I kind of agree. But honestly, Vinland Saga is not the kind of story that really needs that. It would be a hell of a lot better, sure, but it's not essential. That being said, what annoys me more that, considering the setting, there are single characters who can beat entire armies on their own. That's beyond stupid.

Boku no Hero, if you haven't read the manga or the spin-offs, then I can understand that viewpoint. I hope they get back to the core soon as well (especially after these past 2-3 arcs in the manga. Might be skipping a season or two in the anime tbh). Miragee hit it with Vinland Saga.

You're watching an anime about Vikings where it's quite obvious that they are exaggerating just how strong these guys are and it's been the same feeling since the first episode. I mean, if I'm not mistaken, I believe the OP or even just the first 1-2 episodes showed how one guy is killing like 5-10 of the enemy without breaking a sweat as if he's playing some sport. I dunno what you were expecting lol. Of course, 1 vs a whole army is a bit ridiculous but this is a Shounen, so almost an expectation at this point sadly. I personally think the characters are fine. There is a single desired outcome for our MC and that's all he cares about. Aside from developing physically to accomplish it and potentially a bit mentally since that's important if you see the second last episode (haven't seen latest), the anime can still proceed even if it just showed what happened historically since our MC is leveling up all this time.

Eh, + Show Spoiler + If all the vikings were OP compared to some other people they are fighting, I would be ok with this. But honestly, it's just single characters, that are OP vs everyone. All those fearsome crew members of Askeladd look like kids vs those OP characters. Sorry but that doesn't make any sense. I know how OP MC's dad was in the first few episodes. I thought they killed him because, aside from how badass he was, his OPness was surely bad for the story. With his death they had the opportunity to have his legacy in the background and have relatively "normal" people do the fighting. But no, they turned it into what it is now.

Not sure if another episode has been released since, but: + Show Spoiler + Having watched the episode you were speaking of, I can kinda agree now. I think giving Thorkell those abilities is preposterous. I was ok with Thorfinn being OP even if at times, it felt extreme, but Thorkell sinking ship after ship to drive back the Vikings on his own just felt bizzare. Fun to watch, sure, but way too OP. Granted, I'll still keep watching to see how things end. It's been a fun watch. Only complaint I have is that it felt too formulaic in terms of how the show progressed in the first what, 7-8 episodes? Granted, not saying that's not a bad thing but a change here and there would've been nice. Otherwise I like all the characters for the most part and not that surprised that the latest episode had such revelations.

I think the animation is great, but the humor is mostly just LOLSORANDOM humor. Definitely not my cup of tea, didn't even get a chuckle out of me.

Great art and animation as usual, ok story. Though I guess some would say the same for Your Name

I do agree with the earlier discussion about some of the supporting characters though. Inosuke was funny for one EP at most. Zenitsu was kinda meh as well but his character progression with the flashback EP was great.

Definitely not my cup of tea, didn't even get a chuckle out of me. It's very skit based which makes it very variable if you find the humour good or bad. I want to say watching clips on youtube is almost better than just watching the show depending on how much you like the style of humour. I enjoyed a fair amount of it but a lot of eps there would just be skits that were tiresome. Much prefer the longer form comedy of like Parks and Rec than super skit based ones.
