I think they're just meant to represent all of the elitist stereotypes of the kinds of players you find in MMO games while differentiating the MC as a more down to earth type. Which going back to what Toadestern said, would have been much better to show rather than to tell in the opening sentences. In any case, if you play any kind of moba or MMORPG with PvP in it, there's a TON of people who look down upon tanks and healers as "noob" classes, especially younger players that care more about being flashy than anything else.

So it's likely IMO that it's only their shared OPINION that tanks sucked in the games they played, not something we can take for actual fact.

What intrigues me about this whole premise so far (I'm roughly 50% through the episode as of the writing of this) is that this whole show is clearly meant to be a satire of isekai tropes, and putting the MC as one of 4 potentially all OP isekai protagonists could actually play out in some fun ways. For starters, if this world is anything like SAO, he'll level up much slower than his allies will, that's also a typical characteristic of tank players.

Meaning, unlike other isekai tropes he won't be the most OP character just for no reason, he'll have to play really smart and have plenty of character building to become an actual OP protagonist.

Because I recognized it as a subversion, I saw the girl's betrayal coming immediately.

It was predictable because it made its "I'm subverting your expectations" thing way too obvious after a little while. But all said it still set up a really interesting premise going forward, the premise of the MC being forced into a "dark or infamy" type playthrough which as anyone that's played a good RPG game can tell you is very refreshing after seeing so many playthroughs of the good guy playthrough.
