+ Show Spoiler + Started as a super generic isekai but was fairly obvious what was going on right from the start. Maybe just because I read Neos comment about it so idk how going into it blind would be like. That being said, that's literally all I knew about it. That being said, the episode seemed super out of place for me. Maybe it's some pacing issue and the anime having to cut early chapters but again, I just have to rage about characters that just aren't believeable to me. So you have 4 guys, ranging from 16 to 21 iirc, transported to another world via summoning and while MC is all like "wait, where am I" at first, the other 3 all act like nothing happened and make a bunch of requests, not being surprised by anything and just generally treating it like any other normal day in their lives. There's a good chance that the other three are set-up that way on purpose given what happened but it surely isn't trying to sell it as normal people being summoned to another world. I would expect Onii-sama from Mahouka to react in the way they did... Honestly there's so much wrong with how this anime opens up it's unbelievable. Even just small things like them stating early on "I'm leaning towards the otaku-side but am by no means a shut-in", which I can only assume is in that opening to differentiate the series from all the other isekais recently (Konosuba, etc) that have nerds who don't have any social life whatsoever being transported to a new world. Slime-isekai is perhaps the noteable, recent exception to that. Or GATE if we go back a couple seasons. The thing however is that I don't get the feeling that that's anything important to the character whatsoever. Unlike in GATE or slime-isekai it just exists to differentiate the series a bit from the other ones without following up on it so people can read the synopsis and go "oh nice, an isekai but it's not actually a shut-in! (and I'm neither!)" If that's the case just leave that statement out or show it with actions, how the guy behaves in the new world or something like that. Or only mention it later when it actually becomes something you're willing to follow up on, rather than it just being an empty statement for the sake of it. Minor things, but a lot that went wrong like that imo.

Its an adaptation tho so who knows how much content they will go thru or what depth. The other heros had more depth in that opener but they prob just wanted to get thw story rolling and just show some of the base attributes each of the heros have (dumb pretty boy, elitist, etc). Though your aside about a throwaway line by the mc is ?? Not sure why his brief self description is worth commenting on. It really is a standard Isekai thing to say (tho shieldbro is older then most that have com3 out recently). I thought it did fine as an intro episode.

+ Show Spoiler + they're not from the same earth or even dimension as MC, they're from worlds with super advanced VR tech and think this is just a game

I just had the impression that it was really rushed to get to the action within ep1. I would have much preferred it had they split that a bit apart and done it over 2 episodes with a bit more introduction to the characters and all because i really have no idea who's who. What kind of characters they are or anything like that. Wouldn't even know if the dumb pretty boy is the 21year old college student or the 16year old, kinda naive (?) high schooler (not black hairs). Both seem either stupid/naive or downright evil because they really were behind it all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ + Show Spoiler + but then what Unleashing said really comes into play and it doesn't have to be evil. Me attacking my friends in a game of civ isn't evil, I just want to win the game. So if they really think it's a game i could understand at least 1 of them thinking that attacking the others is fine The throw-away line i quoted was just a small example of that because imo you don't say that kind of stuff unless you intend it to be part of his character and how he behaves, so if they say it but don't show it, to me that means they had to cut that part. While the first was obvious I didn't think the 2nd would be the case.

Levels? Check. Perverted stuff happening? Check. People falling at the MC feet (or lack of feet in this case) to work as his subordinate? Check. Laughable world interactions where everyone who works for him / his friends are intelligent noble people and everyone who happens to be his enemies are stupid corrupt people? Don't know because I left around the time typical dumb isekai stuff happened, but I'll wager yes. I would guess its the same thing in shield hero. Minus judging from the description the bit where he has subordinates falling at the MC feet to work as his subordinate, but it'll be quickly forgetten because female slaves. I even imagine there will be a typical isekai scene where the MC scares someone with level difference (tm) even though in a world where level = power, people would in fact be cautiously checking everyone's level very carefully before fighting.

I could explain why it's not like that but it'd just be spoilers
