Still not sure what the fuck APE really is though I initially thought they were AI but it still seems like they're humans, albeit immortal now? The latest ep did answer some questions but def not all of them, which is fine I suppose. In regards to APE, we still need more of a backstory and I hope we get it. In the flashback, they appeared out of nowhere in human history, as a collective, then started to direct humanity towards magma energy/immortality.

Also i decided to move all my anime tracking to anilist after MALs recent idiocy (force everyone to password reset and disable the API indefinitely) Should've made this switch earlier, seems like a better site in so many ways for anime tracking (since i don't care about the forum or review part of MAL)
Didn't care much about the password reset. It was just mildly annoying. What's that about the API? For smartphones or what?

They seem similar to the council in Knights of Sidonia.

Disabling API means that you can't get/post data from/to the website's database in an official way. So 3rd party websites and applications that depend on MAL's API will probably not work for a while.

Yeah, and i use Taiga for pretty much all my anime tracking so by disabling the API indefinitely i'm more than just mildly annoyed
Also MAL is just becoming worse and worse over time as a site imo (user experience)

Ok, I never knew there was an API like that and you could enter information from sources like Taiga. I can understand why you would leave MAL on such notice. I would probably do the same in that position. However, for me nothing is changing and it would be more of a hassle to move everything to another site.

^ same here. MAL has a nice layout and allows me to keep track of what I've watched so far. Only thing I wish I could do is track when I finished shows since I started my account but overall, I'm perfectly satisfied.

Yea that happens with most anime though. I'm in like a handful of Discords filled with people who have a "passion" for writings reviews on MAL. It's really fucking weird. To be fair, I've had a couple of anime that irked me so I can see why someone might make it their "life mission" to absolutely trash something lol.
As for being passionate about reviews, well, I guess I can see that. It's a good platform to express your opinion though I'm sure there are some reviewers who have become extremely egotistical thinking they are right when it's all subjective anyways.
Btw what part do you find is weird? Being passionate about reviews? Time put in by these reviewers? Making it their job to trash anime?

Probably the combination about being passionate about writing reviews just on MAL out of all places.
I caught up with the new LotGH today and I'm not impressed with what the did to Erica. The rest was good though, I enjoyed myself. I think at this point it's certain to say that I won't be able to accustom to the new designs. They are just straight up horrible. -.-'

I mean you can export all your MAL data to a file and import it directly into anilist, so it's like a 2 minute process really
Edit: And now the MAL site is down indefinitely too. Yeah, i'm happy to have moved sites.

95% of my updates are done through Taiga and mobile. A broken API is a definite no go.
Logging me out every two weeks is also annoying as hell.

hmm the mal website is still down. Wonder what kind of update they are doing. Pretty bad to be doing it at this time imo.

After all, I've been passionate about writing for TL for years now. I could be mistaken but isn't MAL one of the bigger anime sites out there for english folks? They would be the TL equivalent in that case.
As for LoGH, I've made peace with some of the designs but Julian and Cazellnu's designs are just so different :/

Jullian's isn't THAT different, but there are a ton where they just tossed the old design out the window. Murai is by far the biggest changed.
Designs aside though, I'm actually really impressed at how faithful its being to the original and the novels. There were more than a few scenes last episode where the script felt like it was 1:1 transplated from the original OVA

MAL still seems to be down. I wonder if something went wrong. Guess they are still updating their API or something. Wonder how much longer it'll be. Those review writing folks must be frustrated right about now haha. Lots of people frustrated on twitter too with lack of updates.

Yes, it's actually been an enjoyable watch and the CGI seems to be well done plus the OP is just fantastic. I thought there was more that took place during + Show Spoiler +the infiltration of Iserlohn but I could be wrong . Only complaint I have is that I wish they showed both sides during an episode, but I knew this going in.
edit: ended up finishing giant killing and gokinjo monogatari. Fun watches overall though I wish gokinjo monogatari was a bit more I dunno, serious? It felt like there was some decent progress but the pacing was rather slow. They could've probably wrapped things up in 3 cours if that existed at the time: + Show Spoiler +The whole Mariko and Yuusuke back and forth relationship also was a bit annoying. It also just felt bad that Ayumi was there and would've treated him so well yet he never took notice so she had to suppress her feelings while trying to put up with Mariko who was acting terribly almost the last quarter of the anime. Still, at least things worked out in the end so guess I can't complain much.
As for giant killing, I also think they ended it as best as they could. It was great to see that there are several soccer or football anime out there.

I hope MAL is dead forever.

I wouldn't say that i hope that but i guess i wouldn't mind it.

Who owns MAL, anyway? I'd figured they'd been around for so long, they'd have been bought up by some internet conglomerate like Curse or something.

Dont be like that, I have a very casual approach to tracking my stuff so it works just fine for me.. It wouldn't end my life it went away either to be fair.

The new one stuck pretty close to the novel's version of events
