Overall, it kinda reminds me of Ikuhara shows except with less of a point, a worse plot, and significantly less style.

Gokusen: not bad though the formula becomes somewhat stale. Still, passion over all! Still a fun comedic watch. Lodoss: I wish this had more episodes in it. I really liked the characters and their interactions but they felt shallow at times and it feels like there could've been a lot more depth had their been more episodes. Still, it's the typical fantasy anime dealing with humans, elves, dwarfs etc... reminded me a bit of LoTR and was a fun watch. King's Avatar: It's amazing just how well animated and fun this anime is about esports, especially considering that a lot of chinese anime are choke full of CGI which makes them unwatchable. This seems to have the right mistake and targets the All Star tournament. There's a second season coming but this is a must watch because it's a link afaik. Really enjoyable if you like a strong MC. Make sure to watch season 1 first before watching this, would recommend 100%~ edit: last hina episode was sad but heart warming too.

referring to Nodame jumping onto Chiaki's back, the constant husband jokes or even some of the smacks she seems to get from Chiaki etc... I would've honestly liked to have more episodes, more cute and close moments because at times, it felt like the show did neglect the relationship or at least didn't advance things as fast as I hoped but the music, concerts, orchestra parts were all well done and were great to watch. At the same time, it feels like if the show added more episodes, it'll be a detriment because they won't be going further than a + Show Spoiler + kiss I liked the characters overall and liked seeing some of the developments that took place as the show advanced. A bit bummed that it's over. Can anyone recommend a series that matches up to Nodame? Something that has the same music, romance, comedy and josei tags? MAL isn't pointing me towards much aside from Nana which I plan to watch. Edit: the main MC being a bit wacky/weird would be good too lol. Something like Nodame level ![]()

And definitely not Noda music. + Show Spoiler + like this is Nana music..

+ Show Spoiler [Nana] + I've made it through most of the show, up to the part where Nana starts hyperventilating when she gets into an argument with Nobu. Man, this show is so painful but for me, it wasn't even about this Nana. While I admit that her past is quite sad, especially with Ren leaving and how everything advanced, to me, I can't help but feel so so terrible for the other Nana which the show refers to as Hachiko. It seems like she keeps running into issues with everything. Yes, it's part of her personality and I'll admit that early on, her too enthusiastic attitude was a bit on the crazy side, maybe partially annoying but that was her personality. Where I started feeling sorry for her and a part that made me mad early on was that her boyfriend, Shoujo. He ends up fucking cheating on her and her friend Jun-chan decides to shoulder most of the blame on Nana herself. Like, yes, she should've paid him more attention and gave him more of her time but from my understanding, her first job was taking up a lot of her time with her having to work weekends too. She got that new job at the publishing company, precisely for the purpose of having more time on the weekends to spend with him and because she needed another job. From my perspective, it felt like while Nana could've done better, the majority of the blame lay at Shoujo's feet. All he had to do was call Nana and call their relationship over but he caved at a crying Sachiko despite proclaiming that he wants to end up in the same grave as Nana! What complete bullshit. Add on that Jun felt like she victim blaming and it made me really mad. I'll be the first to admit that I didn't really like Nana sleeping with people all over but after she got cheated on, she was broken mentally even if it doesn't seem that way. Even if she was there for the band, she was never part of it and certainly felt lonely. I would've thought that the other members, especially her roommate would've understand this and tried to help her out, especially given her pwn past. Add on the fact that she met Takumi who she thought was cool at such a bad time afterwards and considering he's someone who sweet talks women, things went deep. Still ok, not great considering his history but once she decides to call things off with him (she should've done a better job but she told her not to call her again at least) and gets together with Nobu, things went to hell afterwards. Seeing her look so lifeless with Takumi when she clearly loves Nobu was just so painful to watch. That scene where Takumi sit with Nana across from the other Nana and he mentions they are getting married then you get a shot of Nana's dejected face. It's just so sad. She should've been more careful herself to prevent the pregnancy etc... so the blame lays at her feet and Takumi but the fact that no one even tried hard to get some explanation is what made me really mad. The other Nana takes Nobu's side without even talking to her and aside from Yun-chan and her boyfriend, no one even tried to understand the situation. Heck, the other Nana even started avoiding the place to avoid seeing Takumi and spent all her time at Ren's place. I realize she's never had a female friend before but cmon, don't you think that you should at least try to talk to your friend? Fast forward to Nana moving to another place and we see the other Nana try to get in touch with her then you get the whole scoop about Ren's lover and after the recording is done, they are in a hotel where she hyperventilates. If you keep thinking about her, why the fuck haven't you tried to call her? Use Yasu or Shin's phone for God's sake. I'm a bit mad because it feels like just better communication would've helped things so much. Nana got pregnant before she hooked up with Nobu (could be mistaken but I think the timeline if I remember the dates properly confirms this). She wasn't dating them both or lied but of course, no one tried to push and find out the truth. Then of course, she herself feels like she betrayed them and kinda isolates herself. She may look happy at times but there's no doubt that she still loves Nobu and quite likely is even faking her love for Takumi (she needs the support for the child after all so my thoughts is that that love is still a fake, maybe I'm misreading it though). I'm interested to see how things develop and how it ends. I'm hoping that Nana will eventually break things off with Takumi because he just doesn't care for her (him saying work is his top priority and takes 90% of his time or brain or w/e is proof enough for me) and end up going back to Nobu. I'll be happy if both Nanas at least get to talk to each other before the show finishes but there's been all these little hints (or at least they seem to be) about how things never normalize again between the two. Certainly hope I'm misreading them! On May 16 2018 15:58 WolfintheSheep wrote: There aren't too many serious music anime. I dont remember it that well because its been over a decade since I watched it but given the highlights theres a bit of progression still for you to encounter. Ya, fair enough. I finished watching it now. The ending was a bit sad for me though I honestly have no clue if it was anime original seeing as the manga was nowhere near completed when the anime aired over a decade ago. I'm personally hoping it's not canon though I hear the manga is on hiatus for a long time now so we might never get an ending there either :/ + Show Spoiler + While I admit I would've preferred that Nana went back to Nobu, I can bypass that. What made the ending really sad was that first of all, the other Nana was no longer around it seems. There's a mention that Ren is coming at his own time so he's still alive but what does that mean? Did something happen to the other Nana? There's no way that she would skip meeting everyone again, including her only female friend, Hachi. Did she develop some illness? I read someone saying that she likely committed suicide but for what reason? She finally married Ren (or was supposed to) and her band was taking off plus she got to see Hachi again at the fireworks so what???? Did she ditch them all and move somewhere else? Maybe she never married Ren? The anime kept talking in past tense and at the end, we had Hachi even mention she'll wait for Nana for 10, 20, even 50 years. Does that mean she's alive but she's unable to make the meeting? Wonder if the manga is far enough to mention this but I highly doubt it. The other is the fact that Nana, aka Hachi seems to still be with Takumi. Again, I wouldn't have a problem with it but it's certainly clear that Nana does not enjoy her life. This is evident in the flashback in the beginning of the last episode when she met everyone again with her daughter. The look in her eyes when she was preparing the bathtub for Nobu and he ended up holding her hand, revealing her expression and then ring as she turned to leave. Seems like she never got married and considering that Takumi's mindset is work is #1 and his comments towards the end, it's not surprising. I guess it's also not that surprising considering that she made the choice that she thought was best for her child and at the same time, didn't seem like she wanted to tie Nobu down but thinking that she could've been with Nobu had they actually spoke about everything in person and I'm more than positive the rest of the band would've supported her, including the other Nana is just too sad for me. She accepted her fate and from one perspective, she matured. In a twisted way, she got her wish of being a housewife but man is it really sad to see her stuck in a loveless marriage ![]()

I think you can suffer the mild (or not mild in your case, annoyance) and move on. I personally was not invested in the story enough to be upset that it wast going anywhere in terms of resolution. You could be fine not reading the manga aswell because if you are looking for closure you wont get it there. If you just want more of the same you will get it. It will answer some questions but at the same time raise several more, because thats simply how never ending emo drama's work. I just finished it to where it was because I consumed everything and anything in those days, was somewhat annoyed that there was going to be a lot left unresolved and then moved on an hour later.
