Yeah.... it starts out as like, a power fantasy trip, then you got a cool adventure (but it was still a power fantasy trip), and then they tried to do this really really boring intrigue storyline, idk why the loli vampire was on par with the NPC after all the power fantasy trips we did..... and then like the last fight lasted forever, and it felt like kids playing pretend and trying outdo eachother. Ugh. A lot of potential but it seemed like they lost focus. | ||

I'm a bit conflicted on how things ended though because it feels like Enishi recognized his shortcomings but was determined to get better. He could've kept the hotel open but worked at it. It's not like he was starting from scratch here! I was also a bit disappointed that it was only towards the last episode that Ohana finally confessed her feelings to Ko when she realized things halfway through (or seemed to!). Yes, yes, these type of anime go this way but I just wanted more cute moments haha. Is that too much to ask? Also, within 2-3 episodes, everyone was already in love with her lol. I mean, sure, but why not make the transition a bit longer? Guessing they covered the whole source so they had to limit the time. Another thing and this isn't just a critique of this anime but other similar ones is that they almost always downplay the main character's intelligence. Ohana saying things like I'm dumb (or something similar, don't remember exact phrase) and then telling her grandmother that she's old since she understood nothing was a wtf moment. I don't understand why they can't make these characters cheerful, bright and sparkling too? The grandmother imo had one of the biggest transformations. Her intentions seemed clear and it was obvious that she cared about everyone by the end. A far outcry from her cold attitude when the series started. Takako's transformation was ok, felt a bit too sudden after that one episode. Enjoyed the other characters too though Minko's confession played out as they normally do, same with her being happy that he just looks her way. Like, sheesh, is that all you care about? Why not push further? >< I could go on but I'll leave this for now and add more if anyone wants to discuss this. As for Overlord, wait, what? the end of the first season was bad? It was pretty enjoyable imo. Given, I do agree that Ainz just dominating opponents was great! I would say the second arc of season 2 was good, first was meh. | ||

It's very typical for these type of stories to go for something like that and it doesn't really make sense. The writers just do it to create drama in the beginning but try to lure the consumer into liking the character by making them forget about how terrible the character was in the beginning. Agree about Ohana's confession. On the other hand, I think they handled Minko's pretty well all things considered. Hanasaku Iroha is an original btw. so no source. | ||

I actually agree, the new designs look better in most cases (rip Koneko though) and it just somehow feels better? Idk, just looking at those faces when they played the oppai dragon song made me laugh so badly. Also from what I hear the people who read the LN are happy about it because the episode that is out by now (ep0) basicly redid the end of the last season the way it was supposed to be instead of anime original. Can't say wether that's accurate because I wouldn't be reading that kind of stuff but take it for what it's worth. | ||

I find that there's quite a decent amount these days that does have that and not just before the last chapters (Ex. Rakudai's kishi, kawakami stuff, masou gakuen, etc). The problem is that DxD is on Fujimi shobo which is against doing that. | ||
