Anyone here watched Kemono no Souja Erin? Supposed to be some good mystery anime or something.

I kid It's true though. That said, I enjoyed ep8 of Full Metal Panic! I'm very confused! Show nested quote +On April 12 2018 14:00 BigFan wrote:Thanks to whoever recommended Hanasaku Iroha. It was a good watch. I started watching because I heard that it starts out a bit rough with the MC but she grows. + Show Spoiler +I'm a bit conflicted on how things ended though because it feels like Enishi recognized his shortcomings but was determined to get better. He could've kept the hotel open but worked at it. It's not like he was starting from scratch here! I was also a bit disappointed that it was only towards the last episode that Ohana finally confessed her feelings to Ko when she realized things halfway through (or seemed to!). Yes, yes, these type of anime go this way but I just wanted more cute moments haha. Is that too much to ask? Also, within 2-3 episodes, everyone was already in love with her lol. I mean, sure, but why not make the transition a bit longer? Guessing they covered the whole source so they had to limit the time.
Another thing and this isn't just a critique of this anime but other similar ones is that they almost always downplay the main character's intelligence. Ohana saying things like I'm dumb (or something similar, don't remember exact phrase) and then telling her grandmother that she's old since she understood nothing was a wtf moment. I don't understand why they can't make these characters cheerful, bright and sparkling too?
The grandmother imo had one of the biggest transformations. Her intentions seemed clear and it was obvious that she cared about everyone by the end. A far outcry from her cold attitude when the series started. Takako's transformation was ok, felt a bit too sudden after that one episode. Enjoyed the other characters too though Minko's confession played out as they normally do, same with her being happy that he just looks her way. Like, sheesh, is that all you care about? Why not push further? ><
I could go on but I'll leave this for now and add more if anyone wants to discuss this. As for Overlord, wait, what? the end of the first season was bad? It was pretty enjoyable imo. Given, I do agree that Ainz just dominating opponents was great! I would say the second arc of season 2 was good, first was meh. + Show Spoiler [Hanasaku Iroha] +The transformation of the grandma was kinda bullshit. It's very typical for these type of stories to go for something like that and it doesn't really make sense. The writers just do it to create drama in the beginning but try to lure the consumer into liking the character by making them forget about how terrible the character was in the beginning.
Agree about Ohana's confession. On the other hand, I think they handled Minko's pretty well all things considered. Hanasaku Iroha is an original btw. so no source. + Show Spoiler +what part of the transformation did you not like?
Glad to hear that someone else does. When she thanked him when she was at the shrine in like episode 16 or something, I figured that she'll call him finally and just confess to him. Instead, she waited until she went to Tokyo and waited even further until the bonbori festival. Guess at least she finally confessed so I should be happy or something.
Yes, Minko's was handled pretty well. Still, it's sad that all she carries about is him looking her way. I'm pretty sure I've heard that line so many times before so that's another critique that I have.
Is it? Not bad imo.

Erin is pretty good, but the pacing can drag a lot. The sheer amount of repeated flashbacks is absurd. It's by the same author as Seirei no Moribito, if you've seen that.

Seirei no Moribito is great, balsa is the best

Oh man that fight scene was so great(The timestamp you linked at). You basically learn everything about their characters in that segment with almost no talking. That's how you do a great fight scene. It serves a purpose beyond just eye candy to distract the viewer. I think it happened in like ep 2?
I'm gushing again about this show dammit. May need to rewatch it again.

Uhh think its Episode 3. Unfortunately similar to Erin this one tends to meander a bit aswell, which I personally enjoy if done well enough, but it makes it a hard one to rec for the same reason.

FMP was good, and I'm also impressed that the episode has essentially no recap what-so-ever. Its like the creators are just like "hey, good luck remembering the plot of an anime that last aired 13 years ago heh"
The show dives straight into the plot, and keeps things at a pretty fast pace, which is nice. Most of the characterization that takes place has been kept pretty subtle, but it is there, so I can't complain. The last test for this anime is how well they'll be able to pull off the mecha battles, since they've gone CGI mecha this season. The models look alright, so its a question of how they'll look in motion, now.

Seirei has some seriously amazing fights for an anime that isn't about fighting.

They definitely didn't waste any time. At this rate, I think they'll finish BOMF by the end of the cour.
Overall, I'm feeling pretty optimistic for once.

I havent been really paying attention. Is the current one just going to cover roughly COMO? The real fun for me starts BOMF onwards.
Edit: Nevermind, 1 cour so prolly just COMO For now. Meh..

The FMP indeed did not have any recap. Well at least i should watch the 2nd Raid
I should probably rewatch FMP i don't remember how it ended up in that situation+ Show Spoiler + or Tess had a brother. The reluctant handholding too didn't know they already acknowledged each others affection openly. .

That all happens in TSR. Or Ending Day by Day, I guess.

Plus ep1 was very fast paced.
TSR was 13 eps that covered two volumes, and even then half the anime was anime-original. They might even get to Come Make My Day, if the Laevatein's appearance in promo art is any indication.
