Mysterious world we live in. I usually don't watch stuff I don't like character designs in, but clannad was an exception for some reason or other, and I'm very glad it was. Honestly, I watched afterstory before I watched season 1 for some reason I don't even remember anymore, and I think it's the reason why I could enjoy S1 aswell. And why S2's first half was actually needed - to get to know the characters and whatnot. | ||

Clannad characters don't even look remotely human in their facial proportions. Edit: And it's not because i'm not okay with characters not looking perfectly realistically human, it's just that clannad's design is so deeply into the uncanny valley that it's disturbing. | ||

For some reason I thought it was only going to be one season and the story would be all wrapped, but when I started getting closer to the end I realized this wouldn't be the case, and I'm glad it isn't. | ||

You don't have to try to persuade me that Clannad designs are terrible, Unleashed, I'm not questioning it in the least. But also, character designs is the only reason why I haven't watched LoGH. I can't look at old anime character designs. Honestly, I probably wouldn't start watching any anime looking like Clannad these days, but Clannad was #2 or #3 in MAL when I watched it, and it intrigued me, so I stuck with it, and fuck am I glad I did. as for why is Clannad AS is so great for me and many many many others, I can't really say anything without massive spoilers. Honestly, in my eyes anyone who has finished Clannad AS and thinks it is shit cannot be trusted with any opinions at all about anything and should probably be institutionalized or something. If you haven't watched Clannad AS, then the thing you should be asking yourself is, how come an anime that has character designs as terrible as that has 49.5% people who watched it, give it a 10/10. | ||

Think of that and I'm sure you'll understand. as for AS spoilers, I'm not going to do that, in the chance that someone here, like azn, has not watched it yet, and AS spoilers will completely ruin the show for anyone who hasn't watched it. If you want to know why AS is that good, then just watch it. Basically everything after episode 11(if I recall correctly) is worth your while. | ||

Ratings of people who finished the show, and "popularity"as in what people put in any of their lists or not is not the same thing. | ||

You know you can use spoiler tags to tell us why you think it's the greatest? The only good thing it had for it was that it showed the struggles that were faced by the characters and + Show Spoiler + then we got that magic at the end that reversed everything Also, that bolded statement is extremely silly since everyone is entitled to their opinion. Like so: Clannad AS isn't some special snowflake anime that only the greatest minds realize its genius. Heck, I would even put White Album 2 above it and a host of other anime too. | ||

We were saying MAL is a decent metric for things like viewership, not for quality of a show. We've had this discussion so many times. I don't know why people limit what they can watch to a narrow band of modern shows discarding all the amazing content that has been produced over the decades. Their loss I guess. edit: Some pretty strong words for someone who just admitted their can't watch amazingly well done older shows just because they don't like the style....... | ||
