+ Show Spoiler + My favorite part is actually when they show you the colony of Neo Mexico, that's the funniest fucking thing. It's so awful haha.

But the younger ones who can go back and watch almost anything from the early to mid nineties have my respect. There are so many good anime from back then.

I dig mostly early 90s because they cover the eyes with hair and it doesn't bleed through. That really bothers me no matter how great the show may be. There are exceptions, of course, but for the most part, they put in a lot of effort into everything from back then. Demon City Shinjuku and Ninja Scroll's backgrounds were ace.

I might be wrong since I haven't quite seen that many 2010s anime compared to a lot of people (I'm not one of those people who watches like 5-10 shows every season as they're airing) but I think this is a very niche complaint that very few shows actually have a problem with. I understand what you're saying and why it might be annoying, I just don't think I've seen it happen in more than 2 or 3 shows. But yeah anime films tend to have amazing backgrounds and just art in general. I don't think that's changed too much.

As for the movies, I could make a case that Naruto and Bleach don't give us that level of detail, while Ghibli is their own genre. I guess it depends on the genre you enjoy watching where you notice little things.

I watch a lot of the airing shows to see what is good or will be and then I eliminate after 2-3 episodes. That's how I usually go. So I'm more often than not only watch 3-4 a season with leftovers from the previous season. Oh definitely, franchise tie-in films especially for big Shounen shows like that are nowhere near as intricately well realized as Ghibli films, Shinkai films, Hosoda films etc. Speaking of spectacular films, if you're a Ninja Scroll fan I would highly recommend Studio Bones' 2007 action film Stranger: Mukou Hadan. Very basic story, but some of the most spectacular medieval brawls and duels that I've ever seen. Soundtrack's quite hype as well.

I don't remember what my score for it was, but iirc it's pretty high. I like plenty of fun things. And Tatami Galaxy/Trapeze are pretty not serious, and there are plenty of "serious" high art/philosophical anime projects that I think are actually really boring/uninteresting. I'm just less....enthusiastic....about best zoo contests. :p

I don't particularly care for that stuff either, I just like the show for what it is and what it does. I don't mind that people have those kinds of discussions either though so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm sure the discussions happen, but that's also why I don't browse other anime forums.

I used to think NeoGAF and GameFAQs were some of the most idiotic cesspits, until MAL started blowing up in popularity... I used to think /mu/ and /v/ were some of the worst boards on 4chan, until /a/ started blowing up in popularity... And that's to say nothing of /r/anime. So much stupidity and toxicity and ridiculous memes like "anime is trash and so am I hahaha DAE le ironic crippling depression XDDD" bullshit...

True, it's not really ground-reaking. Very stylish which is a big plus for many people (myself included), but even in that regard a very similar style was used by the same studio in their earlier adaptation of Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei.

Even if a handful of them were insensitive stereotypes lol. + Show Spoiler + My favorite part is actually when they show you the colony of Neo Mexico, that's the funniest fucking thing.
