It started in like 2011, though, and is still going; from my understanding the timing came up right with the area looking for a new festival, and one being done in Hanasaku Iroha. As you might guess, the characters from the anime are quite prevalent in the merchandise.

I've read the manga for Watashi ga Motete Dousunda - it has a few deep moments but I enjoy it.

I started Gankutsuou (2 eps in) and so far it's pretty damn good. Decent hook, interesting characters (except for Albert, who is quite bland but that might change over time). The artwork is...artsy. Could as well be shaft but this is Gonzo somehow.

The dialogue between Fine and Izetta is awful. I don't know what they were thinking with that.
Can't say I care for the art or characters in All Out. It's probably first on my chopping block.
3gatsu was alright. I liked the contrast. Yuri on Ice was also fine. I think these two have a good chance of being my favorite shows this season.

The shogi part is pretty good, the 3 girls house part not so much, melodrama and shallow cat jokes don't do it for me (in the manga there are even recipes for the sweet shop).
And in the tradition of Japanese sport manga the MC starts off as a genius right away and is recognized as such.
One of the best parts of the manga are the author's explanation of the shogi world at the end of a chapter, which you probably wont get in the anime.
But I don't want to come across too negative here. It is a good manga no question.

Shaft i feel is pretty good at trying to get the author across in the work. Hopefully they can do it well since it sounds cool
edit: Just finished first Keijo. Not going to lie, quite enjoyed it lol. Really stupid fun and it wasn't even as lewd as hoped.

every time I see the main girl in Stella no Mahou I can't stop thinking about her basicly being loli Shigure from the guy that always draws catlingerie-boats and finishes it with one Yamashiro x kid-Shigure picture.

i recently started watching Wakfu. a french animation adaption of a french mmo which i know nothing about. its pretty animesque and has that adult humor hidden within a kidsshow that really gets to me xD
ofc subs > dubs so french with english subs even though my french is almost nonexistent after 10 years of not using my 2 years of schoolfrench... all in all a nice change of pace, you can easily find it on youtube.

Gankutsuou was okay I guess. I think I liked it a lot less than I thought I would, but I think it's because I took sizable breaks between portions of the anime because the main character was super annoying, and I didn't really like anyone that much in particular.
The weird shit at the end was pretty cool though.

Occult Nine was pretty bad 1st episode, even with the "pull you in scene".
Bloodviores was a mix of ok and meh.
Izetta is whatever.
Only things looked decent were Strag Dogs S2 and 3-Gatsu
