If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

For currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net

Not really to me. If I want a continuation I will read/watch or do whatever to learn more about the story or characters of a series I like. Format does not matter at all.

Sometimes you just want to see a scene animated and hear the VAs go at it. They did a pretty good job in Konosuba too. Though your right about the lns which ofc is why I immediately went and read them.

Wanting to see a scene (or rather, scenes) animated is like the main point of anime. But when its animated like shit, its not really adding anything of value. Might as well just stick with the source at that point.

And since when do you care about VAs lol

I'm kind of in the same boat here.

The thing with me is (as I've already stated numerously) that I really dislike reading on electronic displays for some reason
Be it PC, tablet, smarthphone or whatever really... even when I have to read some long ass pdf for university I always end up printing that out in full. And that's quite troublesome for what we're talking about here. So no VNs for me (duh) and for LNs I do usually check out vol1 of something online if I think I'd like it. And if I do I add a couple to my bulkbuy list for once or twice a year to buy stuff in physical form. Life is hard for people like me

It's just some people enjoy different entertainment mediums to others. Do think it's sad how little people read these days with how easy it is to read. Just because you're upset that anime didn't end doesn't mean you'll suddenly enjoy a medium you dislike. Really dislike people telling others to "just go read the manga/LN" as if that justifies anything.

Just because it works for you doesn't mean it works for everyone. Come now this isn't a hard concept. Different people have different tastes. It makes perfect sense to be upset about not getting a fulfilling conclusion in one format.

Even the argument that anime is really just adverts to manga/LN falls flat for me since that doesn't have to be the case. Accepting it as the case merely allows shitty practices while hindering potential in the medium. That's not even talking about how a shitty advert doesn't help sell a product anyway so there's no reason for terrible animation quality.

For the most part I consider anime and LN (or any source in general) something seperate. Hence me usually not being that annoyed by anime original stuff unless it's clearly worse than something else they had to leave out from source to make time for anime original stuff.
But both should be able to stand by itself so yeah I'm getting the hate on anime that doesn't have a proper ending as well even if I do end up checking it out later on.

Never said it was a hard concept. I just said from.my perspective it's crazy and I don't get it. How would you not want to advance the story of something you enjoy. I need to know and finish the story if I like it. Pretty sure you have read some source material after watching the anime like Spice and Wolf.

Also Sentenal: I don't really care about VAs but hearing certain dialogue exchanges out loud can be good. I also did not know about Konosuba until the anime. Your right tho I don't give a fuck about VAs lol, only one I would consider myself a fan of is Swashiro.

I read, always have but I still get pissed off since the books and the anime are different things. If I wanted to watch something just to read the book instead why would I bother watching in the first place? I have read Spice and Wolf after watching the anime, that was largely due to never knowing about the books if I hadn't. I still want season 3,4,5,6,7 etc. It's a vastly different experience.

Maybe it's just some pet peeve. Just loathe people excusing shit stuff in anime with "go read source".

Pretty much the nature of the industry and how it is monetized I'm afraid. So following up a series that piqued your interest by going to source material is all we got.

How does this work out. Do you just get tired looking at a screen too long? I heard some people can't read on computers or iPads but can do it on a Kindle. Have you tried that?

I think it's just a thing of not getting comfortable while reading for me? I CAN read on a screen but I really don't like it. I probably do get tired easily that way as well but that's not really the thing that bothers me I think.
Out of those, putting a pdf on my smarthphone and reading it while in my bed before sleeping or in a chair (you know, the kind of thing you'd have in your living room) is still the thing I'm the most willing to do. But even that is kind of annoying because you need both hands for the smarthphone whereas proper book is just held in one hand, comfy chair and you can read for hours.

A kindle would probably work for me. Have thought about that but never really got to try one. Would I just put pirated LNs on that? Or can you actually buy them (amazon or else) from outside JP ?

// just tried looking for KonoSuba since that was brought up and it gave me a not available message
That would be pretty massive though. You get rid of shipping costs and all and while I'd still want my favorite ones hardcover for the sake of seeing them in my room I'd so be up for getting some of the quite enjoyable but not quite willing to pay 20$ shipping + 2$ per item LNs

You can put LN on a kindle. Just need to format them right. Kindle doesn't display colour unless you get the one that is like an amazon ipad which kind of defeats the purpose imo. I use calibre to sort out collection.

You can buy the eBook or Kindle edition straight from Amazon I believe. Provided that the book you want has one.

I'm doing that with just one hand. Anyways, 5 minute googling makes it look like I'd have to buy from german Amazon to get kindle versions? US and JP redirect me to GER, so that'd be english versions? Or even german? The original just gives me a not available in your country

But then again, I guess kindle + scans is probably the best solution

I've never bought LN digital, just gotten fan subs. Don't know if many have digital, know spice and wolf didn't when I checked.
