He told me the rules change a bit when dealing with erections given by divine beings. At first I thought it was a mistake on his part but who I am to disagree with a professional. Turns out she truly is a Goddess.
ps: I got up to ep 11 in Arslan. Can see why guys said what they did about it. I wonder if the issue comes from being a Manga adaption of the source. It's a lot easier in a novel to go on a massive rambling monologue about democracy than it is in a manga to do it. Then again LoGH did take quite some time to get into it so comparing it's entirety to Arslans merely 25 eps seems a bit disingenuous. So far it's done a rather poor job at dealing with the slavery issue and Arslan seems to have not done any kind of studies fit for his position which is weird. He should be versed in most fields of leadership by that age he's at. Do they ever go into why his education is so poor? I understand his father's being lacking as he was never meant to lead the kingdom but even then his father had no grasp on military tactics which is super odd. Generally when involving brothers ruling a kingdom they will always be "polarized" in their knowledge, at least in fantasy stories that is.

someone said he was raised in a barn

Yeah they explain his lack of education

Cool since it opens with all these not subtle hints that something weird is going on with him and his parents then you get his complete lack of education for a monarch but it's just kind of gone no where so far. I was starting to think that maybe it was all just some cheap way to get us to care about his character. The whole "oh look how neglected he is why don't you feel for him" kind of situation instead of something deeper.

Sakurako-san episode this week was quite nice and also quite different. It dealt more with emotions. "A story dedicated to those trapped in the past" was very fitting.

hah ok^^ yeah I don't think that really counts. I took it as an exaggerated presentation of friendly banter.

The nice thing about Hitagi is that she's very open and true to herself even in the moments that terrify her. That's a big part of why I like her so much. As for Kanbaru + Show Spoiler +She obviously acted wrong but I do think a lot of it had to do with the paw kind of cheating her out of the situation. Most people like you mention just deal with the situation eventually. Either they break the friendship or they learn to live with it. What would happen if we had this mythical wish granting device at arms length? That's what Kanbaru faces. Her whole body was fighting him because at the core of their being she both hated him and liked him. In that moment her hatred for him was too much to handle and it took over.
Look I'm not saying what she did was right, merely that I can understand where she's coming from and why she did what she did. A lot of Monogatari is about people dealing with the extreme feelings a lot of us feel in a world where there are these magical manifestations.
Personally I've had moments where I wanted to kill someone with all of my being but then it passes. What would happen if I had a devils paw next to me in that moment? It honestly scares me to think about that. What we are capable of doing in our moments of emotional distress is terrifying. I guess I'm a bit of a hypocrite defending Kanbaru's actions while loathing Hanekawa for doing the same things. Sigh. I need to rewatch it now. DAMMIT Miragee.
Sorry.^^ Well, I honestly never felt the urge to kill someone in my entire life. I don't know that feeling and from my narrow point of view the only situation where I can imagine myself picking up a weapon and kill someone is in order to defend myself or my beloved ones. I can understand where she is coming from but I think it's too radical and her action can't be justified either way, by me that is.

Pretty much this.

I already finished the Snake arc by the point the discussion started.
+ Show Spoiler +I feel like I missed something because I didn't pay enough attention but I didn't really understand why there were two snakes in the end. Did she put one of them upon herself and the other one was the curse of the boy?
In the end, I don't really know a lot about her and how she is. The arcs are mostly there to deal with the persons problems but you don't really learn anything about the character's behavior etc. (aside from Snail). For everyone else that came after the arc was done, at least up until now.

Two kids sent curses. Both the boy and the girl.
So you've never been so angry at someone that a thought crossed your mind? You a better man than I then.

Which girl? The girl who was in love with the boy and didn't want to see him hurt or what?
Don't get me wrong, I certainly was so angry at someone, at some point in my life, that I could have hit them straight to the face. Not because of envy though. I probably wouldn't have been sad if said person died, either. But killing someone or hurting him so badly that they would take permanent damage? No, that never crossed my mind. I don't think that makes me a better man though... It just means that I don't want to be responsible for hurting other people that like said person.

Yea just wait until the 2nd snake arc ~_~ people say it made her better but meh. Shinobu and Kanbaru just keep getting stronger as the series goes on. Hitagi maintains a high level but they chuck her into a corner too much so she gets shit time. The fire sisters are good and cat is ok. Snake is the worst.

Yes the girl that was in love with the boy and the boy that got rejected.

Nadeko's first arc is probably the odd one out for Monogatari.
Every other arc has multiple things that it tries to achieve. As you mentioned the Kanbaru arc: That obviously serves as an introduction for Kanbaru but it quite impressivly serves as development of Hitagi at the same time. The Mayoi arc while not all that important for Mayoi's character is ridiculously important for Araragi x Hitagi and why she's in love with him.
Nadeko on the other hand really is just what you see: a cute moeblob HanaKana char who's wearing the most adoreable Sherlock Holmes hat you could imagine. And at that point in time there really was nothing noteworthy happening in that arc and no character developement to speak of. If you exclude the introduction of the character it might as well just not have happened and there would not be a difference, speaking for Bakemonogatari only.
Her second arc from s2 makes her better for sure, it even explains why the first one was so subpar when compared to the other ones... I'm just not sure that was planned from the beginning lol
Edit: I still like the character but the arc just wasn't good on it's own.

New Platinum End, it's kinda interesting. MC seems to have the all powers, but looks like people who are willing to do anything are in a way better spot.

Hmm. I think that if you look at Kanbaru and Hanekawa, they are two possible reactions to the same problem...
+ Show Spoiler [Through end of Nekomonogatari Shiro] + In Kanbaru's case, Araragi does what Kanbaru wished she could have done and saved Gahara - and quickly making her happy while they date. In Hanekawa's case, she actually does save Araragi (although we have to wait until the movies are out to find out exactly how, unless you've read the LN) and continues to be supportive - while he goes off and rescues Hitagi, who promptly takes steps to act on the feelings she has; something that Hanekawa can't do. Some might say "won't", but given her family history (which comes out more as time goes on) I believe that she literally can't be forward about how she feels towards Araragi. So, both have deep feelings of unrequited love - and they deal with this in two very different ways. Kanbaru winds up lashing out at Araragi while Hanekawa buries those feelings until she snaps and her ears pop out again.
Both characters are flawed. One of the nice things about the girls (all of them) is that they are all more than just flat stereotypes; you wouldn't mix them up with other anime girls (like I was mixing up Stella and Julis) and they have reasons for being the way they are, even if it may take some time to come out.
Also, I do like some of the things you only notice on rewatch, like + Show Spoiler [Both Snake arcs] + how in the first Nadeko arc, she's shown actually drawing manga during the opening - which only becomes important in the second arc, where the opening shows her quitting drawing manga.
I think Snake is at the bottom of the girls though - I just don't like her as much as the others. Well, if you count Gaen as one of the girls, I like her even less, but...

But continue watching and she is just so much better than everyone not named Shinobu and Hitagi and then by Owari she is leaving Hitagi in the dust and is only a bit behind Shinobu. Hmm kanbaru is not bad but i've never liked her over everybody. I still have to see if she became better in Owari since i haven't seen past ep 2.

Her second arc indeed painted her character better the first arc honestly just feels like the standard "incident where mc saves girl and adds her to harem" kind of thing.

Shogun Assassination Arc started today, so I guess that's why you asked. They left today's episode on a huge cliffhanger (as a manga reader, I suspected that they would choose there to stop). The OP/ED changes are really cool, and this arc is probably my favourite shounen arc so I'm pretty hyped for it to progress (next week involves a certain sadist and idiot brother). I think there is a Gintama manga thread, but I don't feel like digging for it. The anime is on point. I love the translation and this arc is one of my favorites as well. But the following arc is even better I think and the way the manga is heading, the next few arcs are going to be beautiful.

Is that because they're sexualized in that case?
Also the anime is good. Get's pretty KyoAni later on but the first half was legit fun.
And man, I'm still only watching 2shows this season, need more stuff... You mentioned that I might like Aquarion evol. So just start with s1 or should I pick something else? MAL rating for the 2nd seems to be on SchoolDays niveau so not sure if you were trolling lol Worst case I can shit on Mecha in here in a week or so, can't be that bad
