+ Show Spoiler +Usually skip the ED lol. Took a look it and yeah, pretty much harem member confirmed I guess

"If you look at the title, one would immediately think of this as a children's show and that many children would be watching."
Rofl what? Gundam show called Iron Blooded Orphans is obviously a children's show? Bad parents annoy me so much. Can't be arsed to take responsibility and do their job so have to try burn the world down.

Is IBO airing in prime time? Most anime air super late night, but Gundam is Gundam, so maybe its aired at a decent time of day.
|
It airs during prime time like every other Gundam it seems. Don't really see how that changes anything.
|
it has blood in it, which normally comes out of people including children and in a gundam anime probably cause of KILLING, also orphan isnt exactly the happy sunshine word for children either, some people are retarded
How could you come to the conclusion simply off the name and genre that there wouldnt be bloody battles
+ Show Spoiler + if people dont wanna look after their own kid, dont expect others to do it for you

Its more that its anime that people are more suspicious of it than anything. Primetime action dramas also have blood in it.
Also, try fighters aired late night so its not that.

I overcame my "all the anime this season has to offer sucks"-phase and picked up OPM after dropping everything that hasn't Owari in it's name. Read: Monogatari + Hayamin, actually I'm still on ep2 of the Hayamin show as well...
Got to say OPM is pretty godly. There was a video someone posted earlier about the budget of it and how it supposedly looks super high budget while only being average on budget. It looks good for sure but not quite like a high budget show to me. Sure it has a lot of action and thus a lot of varying shots which costs a lot but the quality and style of the animation makes up for it.
Which is to say it still looks really good, besides being really funny. It just doesn't look "high budget" to me. Take Himouto from last season as an example, that was (probably?) low budget but imo looked really, really good for what it could offer. OPM animation is in line with that for me, although a couple steps up the ladder as a whole but clearly not on the level of shows where you go "omg this production"
Inb4 "omg you don't even know how expensive what part of animation is etc"-rage, obviously just my personal layman opinion looking at it and nothing else.

What do you want to say with the bolded part? Surely you can't mean the quality of the animation is low quality right? God, there is a lot of really well done Sakuga in this which isn't even limited to the action scenes everyone is talking about. And then you are comparing it to Himouto which had more still frames than anything else. I'm quite a bit baffled right now. Do you actually know anything about animation or are you looking at the art-style and judge it from there? I mean sure, OPM isn't the best animated series out there, let alone animated work including movies, far from it, but it is certainly heads above the seasonal standard.
Sorry, this isn't meant to be an insult even if it sounds like it. It's just that to me what you wrote and the way you wrote it is quite outraging. o.O

OPM isn't "high budget". Madhouse has come out and said as much. "High budget" doesn't even mean anything. People gush over UBW calling it high budget when in reality it's not that great animation. Kyoani has some of the best animation out there and none of it is due to "high budget", it's just really good business practices that they managed through years of hard work and moevolution . OPM is essentially some of the most talented animators in Japan working together to deliver it, that's why it's so good compared to most seasonal stuff. The same crew that did Space Dandy, well most of it anyway.
I think FMA:B had the highest budget out of any TV show to date and well it didn't just destroy every single other show in terms of quality. Think your standards are just too high lol. Ideally all good anime should be made how Kyoani does it but unfortunately that's just not how the industry works.

Like I said, Which is to say it still looks really good, which to me implies way above average. It just has lots of scenes that aren't very detailed, for a lack of better word, which obviously also comes down to their style of animating it. I was just arguing that the "way above" comes from somewhere and you can see that they're lacking in other fields at times to make up for it. So it's clearly not "lol they're throwing money at it"
Compare it to generic A-1 stuff and for the most part it'll look worse in that regard but will look miles ahead in the action/lots of moving shots section.
And like I said, the Himouto comparison wasn't a comparison to Himouto but to how both series looked better than what their budget would make you think. As in, I think both series looked above average within their scale while also saying that OPM is obviously on a completly different scale, which is what I tried to get at with:
OPM animation is in line with that for me, although a couple steps up the ladder as a whole so I wasn't arguing that they're compareable but saying that both delivered really good with what they had available.
and more importantly to answer the question inside:
Inb4 "omg you don't even know how expensive what part of animation is etc"-rage, obviously just my personal layman opinion looking at it and nothing else.

yeah the "production value is really high" lolol. Not that I care much about it.
That having been said, another thing to remember is that alot of the production work is heavily outsourced these days. Korea and Taiwan especially. So you dont really know who's doing what anymore. Besides high production value isnt quality anyway, hence the lack of care.

So what does look high budget to you, Toad?
