If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

Good day of Anime. Watched Nisekoi to start things out light and happy, then moved on to Oregairu for the heavy stuff, then top it off with the lighthearted Danmachi. All the episodes were great again this week (I liked last weeks episodes for all the shows quite a bit too)

Danmachi Episode 8 + Show Spoiler +
The most action oriented episode so far. The fight was well done and the ending was pretty badass. It's a good change of pace from last episode being dedicated primarily with Harem building. It looks like Bell will finally join a party next episode most likely. I wonder if his growth is going to slow soon. At his current rate he will outpace everyone by season 3 it seems (if show even lasts that long).

Ending was cliche as hell, lol.

+ Show Spoiler +
Fight was done alright, but Bell went from getting the utter shit kicked out of him and admitting he was just stalling and about to die, to overwhelming the Minotaur. All thanks to the power of "I can't let you save me again!".

I would have been able to accept the victory a bit more if he actually had to do something dangerous and get hurt to win, or at least switch his strategy, showing that he was capable of winning the whole time, just that he had to do some pretty crazy things to succeed. But nope, win due to the power of plot.

Yeah well, I use streaming mostly but a some series I want on my hard drive. o.O It's not like I could really benefit from 1080p anyways since I'm using a 19" 5:4 monitor, hue.

Damn that danmachi episode rocked. I got chills from that minotaur fight with that epic music. I rewatched that fight like 4 times. Aiz still the best girl and she was falling for Bell during that fight!

I'm using an older version of uTorrent because only uTorrent works properly with Taigas auto-sorting function orz.

Finished up Serial Experiments Lain. This turned out to be legitimately good. I seriously enjoyed having a show where I had to sit down after each episode and had to think about what happened before I could start the next episode. Fiddeling out all the connections was a lot of fun.

Quick random spoiler:

+ Show Spoiler +
The whole "a god can't be called a god if he has no worshippers" and "something that isn't remembered never existed/happened" reminded me of that one god in one of the Terry Pratchett novels that ceased to exist once he lost his last believer. I liked that a lot.^^

I also so predicted that line "let's do it again, you will revert it in the end anyways" in the final episode. Pretty much the only time I predicted something in this show. :>

Aside from him this episode was exceptionally boring. Why do they have to drag this fight that much? It's painful. Rephrasing of the same lines/statements over and over and over again. Also "our skill is like day and night". The hell? Then you could have ended this in the beginning of this episode all-mighty Archer. -.- It's not like you haven't talked shit the whole episode before already... But no, more dumb talk instead of carrying out what he so wishes for. Seems like he doesn't want to kill Shirou but to bring him away from the path he had taken, after all...

So you're saying that future Shirou has troubles killing someone for selfish reasons.

Archer didn't just want to kill shirou. In this episode Archer finally managed to do what he had been trying to accomplish for quite some time now, breaking shirou's will and spirit by forcing him to come to terms with how flawed and full of hypocrisy his ideals are and how much regret that path contains.
The flashback and back and forth thing is shirou coming to terms with hos flawed his ideal is and then embracing it regardless.
Basically in the end shirou refound his conviction, will and spirit that archer had been desperately trying to break all this time.

This is why archer didn't just cut Shirou down, because just killing him was never his goal, if it was his goal he could've done so much earlier in the route.

I see. So in the end my feeling was right. Still, that doesn't make it any more enjoyable. If they cover his true intention in endlessly dragged conversations, filled with rephrased on liners, then I don't see how having another goal really matters to the fact that it felt dragged and stupid to me. Because the show didn't really show anything else than Archer acting stupid.

Yeah, I'm complaining because like every 2 sentences Archer says that he wants to kill Shirou. If he wouldn't do that I wouldn't complain so much. Breaking his will can be done in a better way than running your head into a brickwall over and over again.

But that's like...literally the entirety of his character. The entire core of Shirou, his personality, his motivations, the titular ability of the story, is that he will never sacrifice anyone except himself. Which basically means his entire modus operandi is to throw his own body at a problem until it gets fixed.

It's kind of obvious if you put the pieces together. I mean, his power only exists because of how extreme his ideals are. The fact that he's still using the same powers should say how little he's changed.

Omg i can't wait to see ophis. She looks like she has best girl qualities.
Also, Rias and Akeno arguing over who gets Issei while beating the queen was hilarious and funny
Seeing diodora astaroth getting beat felt good. I expected the fight to be a curbstomp since dxd has defined power levels and i got what i expected.
