It felt way to dragged out with melodrama and fillings pretty much from the beginning to end. I'm going to give it 5/10 for the show as a whole. It wasn't bad as a whole, it just turned into shit over time.
Started Brotherhood now. 2 Episodes in. I can't really put my finger on it but it feels better than the beginning of FMA. Maybe it's the pacing but I can't say yet. It's definitly different from what is going on and how things come up that only came in ep9 or later in FMA03. Kind of surprises me since I thought the beginning would be pretty much identical.
I believe the ending sets up for the movie: Conqueror of Shambala(?), if you're still up for material based on that storyline.

Nishikiori was the best. Baron Ashura was a decent character too. The Kurogane Five and Ankokuji were also pretty good. Kouji himself was ok, I guess, but nothing particularly special.
The "events" of episode 1 spoils a good chunk of the ending arc. Pretty questionable decision.
I swear to god, everybody fucking comes back to life. The most egregious ones had to be the Kurogane Five, the Mazinger Army, and the labs blowing up. It really left a bad taste in my mouth. At least Kenzo's survival was sorta hinted at.
I felt the revelation that Dr. Hell was actually trying to prepare for the Mycenaeans was dumb and almost unnecessary. It sets up for Ashura's betrayal, but surely if you wanted to obtain photon power, there are easier ways to do it than assaulting the labs? The justification for Dr. Hell's actions just don't pan out.
