like what Sent said she's got a giant deathflag thing going on. The other part of it is just small things like (blonde's conversation with friend about how friend feels about him where she says she sees him as a brother type guy....and then also the friend has been gradually realizing she's really in love with MC throughout the whole series). but neither of those things are really the focus, and could easily just be "side" stories that complicate stuff later possibly. To me the story is blonde girl pulling MC out of his depression funk where he then would realize stuff about life (how good life is blah blah...and then fall for his childhood friend b/c Blonde girl was never interested in a "love" type relationship it's more of a "friends who understand each other through similarities" type relationship. At least that's what i was thinking/hoping this story would eventually turn towards. But that's most likely wrong since there's so much of MC being gaga eyed over blonde girl.

"Main girl" and "winning" are two completely different things. Childhood friend is an irrelevant after thought who simply exists to pick up the pieces when the actual main character who is female dies.

But the childhood friend is clearly, without a doubt, not the focus of the story, or focus at all really. Holy shit that death flag goat vs Krauss part had me crying. In a series focused on terror and deceit, that part was golden.

It could be worse, she could be voiced by Hayami Saori. That's like guaranteed death.

What's funny is that this was the original path the manga was going to take until the author scrapped it and decided that Kaneki would make his own separate squad instead of joining aogiri. Interesting, had no clue about this. I think this episode wasn't too bad though the quality of the animation seems worse?
